We booked indieCampers (Van Sporty) in Bilbao for 2.5 weeks and here are the reasons why we would not do it again:

Insurance:
• When choosing the insurance online IndieCampers does not enclose the details that the insurance does not cover: multiple accidents, the roof of the van, everything below of the van.

Organisation
• Picking off the van and handing it back is only free within a short timeframe. In case you arrive after 5pm or want to hand the van back before 10am, you’ll be paying an extra fee of 79 Euros.
• They forgot to hand over the chairs and table we prebooked. Since no employee is available after 5pm, we had to buy the chairs and table ourselves and claim the refund. Usually you’d rather start your vacation differently than shopping at Decathlon.
• The tank was only filled by a quarter which means that firstly, you’ll need to get gas.

Sleeping/„Beds“:
• We received one thin blanket. It was definitely too cold for September at night.
• IndieCampers claim that the van can be used by four people. HOW? There are supposed to be two beds, one at the back of the van, one on top.
• If you want to sleep on top, your nose will nearly touch the ceiling. If you have not been claustrophobic before, you will be now.
• If you want to sleep at the bottom, you’ll be lying on hard plastic brackets, definitely not comfy for sure.

Watertank:
• There is no display showing you how much water is left in the tank.
• The used water tank is really small. It overflows quickly.

Kitchen equipment:
• The cooker was rusty and should have been replaced at some point in the past.
• No cutting knifes.
• No place to store your waste.

Fridge:
• It’s really loud.
• You’ll need to switch it off after three hours, otherwise the van battery will die. However, you can’t switch it to electricity either, because the fridge is too heavy to take it out of the holder. Consequently, your food is constantly getting warm and cold. It’s not nice, really.

Storage space: Basically, not existent.
Light: The van has the coldest light you could ever imagine (Think about an old office or the light in the changing rooms at h&m, you’ll get an idea).
Foil: The van is foiled quite boldly. Everybody will directly identify you as a tourist. Great for thieves and the police if they want to fine you for camping.

It was a beautiful trip. It all started when I arrived to pick the van and all was set up, they gave us an wifi router, all the logistics that we needed, and also the surf boards, of course. Then we even cooked, slept, everything in just one van away. It is all about the experience that Indie gave us, and also the beautiful view as you can see by the photos.
