A Fabulous holiday; safe, forward going, well-mannered horses; a beautiful location; well organised.
Highly recommended for competent horse riders.
I booked the eight day Holiday which included five days horse riding for my 16-year-old daughter and me.
The holiday exceeded expectations, and there were no surprises from what was explained on the web site. The core of the holiday involved five days horse riding in the spectacular Nature Forest and beaches of Barbate Andalucia. We were picked up at the hotel each morning and taken to the stables where our horses were tacked up and waiting for us.
Caroline, who is an experienced and competent horsewoman led the daily ride - safety of her clients is paramount. On two of the riding days we ventured onto beautiful beaches for an exciting gallop, and on the other three days we hacked out in the forest with the occasional Canter and Gallop.
It's not a trip for the novice rider as you will be sat in the saddle for a good four hours each day - mainly at walk with a good mix of Canter and Gallop.
Accommodation and Food.
Our accommodation was in the sea side town of Barbate. The hotel was clean and functional and served a simple and sufficient breakfast - think IBIS or similar. Barbate is a curious Spanish holiday resort orientated for Spanish families. Busy yet quiet and free from the typically boisterous English Holiday crowd. The beaches of the area are superb.
After riding each day, we were taken to a local taverna for a light lunch (all included in the cost of the holiday) and then taken back to the hotel where we spent the afternoon at our leisure.
At 8-00pm each evening Caroline met us and took us to a local restaurant, took our orders and settled the restaurant bill. For the non-Spanish speakers, this was helpful as Caroline provided translations to the menu. The evening meal was included in the price of the holiday, and there was an excellent choice of dishes. Speciality dishes are available at a small supplement.
Dinner was most enjoyable, and it gave an opportunity to discuss the day's riding and to get to know the other guests.
Transport
Included in the cost of the holiday was transport to and from Malaga Airport.
In summary, everything was catered for and the only decision that I had to make on this holiday was what flavour of Ice Cream to choose in the afternoon.
