Nice location and atmosphere. Food, however was a bit fat and lacking taste. Grilled meat was served without any vegetables, children burgers burned and mixed sea food platter was soaked with fat. I would recommend for a drink and a snack, but not for a proper meal unfortunately. Service was good.

Great place to chill out on the sun beds, have some drinks and grilled fish. Spectacular level of service from Phil, the waiter from LA.

If you want to de-stress, do not go there! Service so fast that it feels like being thrown out for the following. Aperitifs, appetizers, starters and main course all served at the same time 10 minutes after being ordered, table cleared before finishing toys of children stowed in the bag by the waiter himself. Never seen before.

I had sardines, octopus, paella and prawns and it all tasted very good. Definitely worth going if you want to try spanish food.

Great service, really fresh fish and meat, great location.we really enjoyed this chiringuito last night. Even though it was really busy the service was fast and friendly. Will definitely return.

You are just strolling along the Paseo Maritimo when suddenly you smell it.
Wood smoke.
Hmn.
As you get nearer, it's the scent of singeing sardines that wafts past you, makes you turn around, and make a bee-line for the El Madero. For a cheap-and-cheerful meal at lunchtime or in the evening!
It happened to us today - we had no intention of dropping in, were on our way home, but you know that smell . . . :-)
Couple of glasses of Tinto de Verano (plonk and lemonade to you), a bottle of water, calamares fritos, sardines and the most delicious gazpacho I've had this summer - and I have it most days. Sometimes twice a day.
OK, so it's not Haute Cuisine. Or even Medium-high Cuisine. But they know how to do fish. Grilled fish.
The speciality is "Espetos".. That just means a wooden skewer - the important thing is what is on it - five usually sometimes six (depending on size) plump sardines, fresh from the fish auction down in Estepona Harbour.
Grilled by that poor chap who spends all lunch time and all evening toiling over a hot charcoal fire at waist level in a sand-filled boat on the beach.
With a salad and a glass of Sangria it's the perfect holiday lunchtime treat as you come up from the beach, or a lovely evening meal as the sun sets over Gibraltar to the West.
It's a humble beach bar - that's what Chiringuito means - but they have the fish cooking down to a T. Very family friendly too - children are more than welcome and the service is smiling.
Can you resist as you stroll past along the promenade and see the sardines grilling right under your nose?
