  Travelling through the pyrenees,we decided to stop in Puigcerda and search for budget accommodation for the night. We booked a room in Campus Cerdanya,but we would have been better camping wild for the night. We nearly had to do so in front their doorstep. We arrived late, it must have gone 9.00pm when we finally arrived to the hostel. It took us while to find it,despite Puigcerda is not very big town and we had directions given by a local. Their signpost are limited and in the dark, their semi hidden logo by the trees is not very visible. Anyway, our first impressions were ok, average receptionist, but pleasant enough. Clean room, with sufficient space, but for the price I may have expected more. We have booked a private room for 2, 60 Euros for a hostel room was in the top price. We were given information for local places to eat, handed a local map but not been given any other information by the receptionist. Who surely told us what time we needed to leave the room the following day but not given us any information we may need for the night. Just over an hour after speaking to the receptionist we got back from the town to find out the front door to the hostel had been locked with key. We had been left locked outside!! We phoned the number we were given when booking, but we could hear the phone ringing in reception, which was not manned. There was not a single note,for emergencies, or nothing than indicated us, what to do. We walked around the building, had a look but all doors were locked. We saw light through a window which was open, we shooted for help. we could see a head watching but nothing happen, After the embarrassment, we were still left stranded outside a building in which we had payed for a room to sleep. Not realising we may spend the night outside, in a many stars hotel instead in a hostel. After over half and hour, we took our sleeping bags, thank god we left them on the bike, and laid them on the floor, in front their outside door to go to sleep!! It would be warmer there we thought, than on the street. When then, the night guardian came to open the door for us. Was he watching us all the time.? We had our bed to sleep in the end, but looking for a way to get in after 11 at night was not what I had in mind after a tiring day, when the receptionist did not advice us, or let us know the door may bo locked for a while. in fact she saw us out after she gave us advice of where to go to dine, out late that night. In the morning, I did explain the situation to the person in front the desk, but not much help was given, or even empathy. I was "kindly" informed, the manager was not at work, and there was not way to contact her in the day. But I could write her an e-mail if I felt inclined to do so. Ah I was also given an feedback form, despite a complain form may have in this case been more appropriate In my opinion, if this counts, if not a manager is in place or duty for the day, a member of staff who can take decisions and understand their customers, may need to be designated, but in Campus Cerdanya do not seem to share this view. There was one thing, the responsible of the desk did make sure of: That the room was fully paid for I was surprised there was not a supplement for the entertainment , or the stress we had the previous night.
  
  Despite, our terrible experience, I was at first pleased when after publishing a review in another site for Campus Cerdanya, a positive feedback response was sent by their management. But did take not long, to realise they are only interested in pumping up the stars collected from reviews, and not in real customer care. Stars which are in a way bought by offering prices to the good boys and girls who give them a smile. I would not recommend this establishment at all.

  We stayed there with our national youth orchestra and it was one of the best places we have ever been to!
  Staff of nice and very helpfull and the rooms are really clean and comfy!

  It is a very good place, you can eat and drink very well and I love sleeping in their beds, their beds are the bests!!

  We liked Puigcerda and found Campus Cerdanya clean, comfortable and well organised.
  The room was good for our family of 4, 2 young kids, breakfast was generous.
  Parking was on street only, which was only negative.
  One of the staff who had spent time in Aust. was particularly helpful with local knowledge on where to eat and other activities in the area which was of great assistance to us English speakers.
