Had a fantastic day birding with Javi, who was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me to see and photograph some wonderful birds. Wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with Birding the Strait.
I had a wonderful day with my guide Yeray. His expertise and local knowledge were exceptional and I left with a much better understanding of bird migration and of how much this region has to offer bird watchers
One of the best birding trips that we have had with BIRDING THE STRAIT
Yeray was extremely helpful knowledgeable and catered to all our whims and fancies
He made sure we saw the birds properly and photograph the birds to our hearts content.
Being knowledgeable did not go to the head of Yeray. In fact he was so accommodative and knew what birds to look where.
He is a store house of good Ornithological information that he gladly showered onto us.
We strongly do recommend to book BTS for all future birding trips in Spain.
Many thanks to Yeray and Birding the Strait for a fantastic September weekend of bird guiding during raptor migration season. Over sixty bird species in two days. Yeray extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to particular bird species requests. (I had never seen nightjar. Yeray found me one. Wonderful). Saw more, learned more than i ever imagined possible in such a brief time. We will use Birding the Strait again. Many thanks again. Morven .
We were on two trips with Yeray in the middle of October. On the first afternoon trip we visited La Janda and on the second full-day trip we visited many places in the surrounding of Tarifa. It was a fantastic trip where we got to see a lot of the surrounding nature and a many different birds. This includes vultures (griffon and Egyptian), eagles (Spanish imperial, Bonelli´s, short-toed, and booted), Pallid´s harrier and many other raptors as well as little owl, flamingoes, bald ibis, spoobill etc. The trip was very well arranged and nice. In addition to the birds, it wa interesting to also see all the environments, including forests, agricultural areas, mountainous areas and cliffs with roosting vultures.
I spent the entire day with Yeray in early October. Yeray was very thorough at identifying all birds for me by sight and especially by sound (which I like). There was fog in the morning, but it was great for working on sound identification, which Yeray was a master at. We went to Playa de los Lances, El Mirador del Estrecho, the Barbate Marshes (Marismos), and La Janda. Highlights for me included the endangered Bald Ibis, waders like the spoonbills, field passerines, a sleeping Red-necked Nightjar, and raptors (e.g. Short-toed Snake Eagle, Booted Eagle, Black Kite, Eurasian Sparrow Hawk,). We did not see the Spanish Imperial Eagle that day, but Yeray told me where to look for them the next day, and I did!.dozens and dozens of them passing through from Facinas through Bolognia for migration!
