  It's chaotic but here are some tips to make it a smooth experience:
  
  1) Arrive right before 8AM, it gets busy and fast, forgot that extra sleep, you can sleep after you're back home early!
  2) Bring a Pen, there are no pens around and you don't want to waste time asking for pens from staff/public.
  3) From me, they asked for one passport copy, one entry stamp copy, and one passport photo. I didn't have a passport photo, but they still accepted my application. They didn't ask for any rental contract/proof of stay. Take your original passport as well obviously.
  4) As soon as you enter, follow the crowds towards the entrance (staff entrance is actually for women and public entrance for men)
  5) Once you arrive inside (Clear security), go straight to the 3rd floor. Go to window 37 and grab some forms.
  6) After filing the forms, go to window 50 and grab a numbered ticket (3rd floor). I found the person stationed here the most helpful for general questions. I was told everyone gets at least 3 months extension (I enquired if possible to extend for just 2 weeks).
  7) Go to 2nd floor, window 5 and hand in forms. Once complete, pay the fees (just under 1200 EGP per person) at the window opposite that has a banque misr header. Once paid, go back to window 5 to provide receipts and the window right next to window 5 (6?) will take your fingerprints and photo.
  8) Come back the next day to pickup. You can also pickup after a few days if busy due to work or etc.

  Actually I think they did a good job here. I'm American and asked for 3 month tourist visa extension. I will add a few things.
  
  They would only take Egyptian pound cash from me. No credit card. I think 2 or 3 ATMs inside. Day one 1070 EGP. Day two 750 EGP. Day one is fast only 25 minutes start 2nd floor window 37.
  
  Day two takes 4 hours.
  
  Bring mask. Bring pen. Bring passport copy. Bring 2 passport photos. Never lose your numbers. They give you two. NEVER lose them. They wanted my address in Cairo not Luxor even though I am going back to Luxor.
  
  The staff try hard to get you done. When the finished cards come they call out numbers. If you don't answer they will even yell your name. Even though they close at 2pm they will keep finishing your resident cards until everyone waiting has their card. Don't be afraid they will kick you out at 2pm.

  Just can’t think of more disorder and unprofessional behavior there. I went with someone just to pick up, and people are disrespectful, unprofessional
  They think they run the world from that small desk behind the glass.
  
  The only one who was good is the teller guy who work for misr bank when we went to pay.

  The worst passport and visa office i have ever experience in my life they are very disrespectful and disorganized , as much countrys i have visited and passport offices around the world to extend my visa when traveling, and as much technology they have there the staff are very rude and not educated,
  the signs of no smoking is everywhere but the staff get to smoke in front of everyone no matter your old or have health condition also they don’t speak english very well or any other national language, they scream at you for asking questions about the application, they also don’t call the ticket in orders they will stay in one number for a whole hour and serve people they knew,
  they also have female officers working there but they don’t respect your privacy were they don’t offer female officers to serve females applicant even though egypt is muslim country and there is a lot of muslim and non muslim women who preferred a woman officers to Process their application and check there ID’s And take pictures of them, even to get finger printed but no there is so much rudeness in there voice when you ask ,
  also half of the staff don’t wear mask but we are required to wear one,
  also there is a lot of discrimination by where you from people get different Visa extension period Depending where you from i waited all day and i was charged more then many friends that were with me in the same trip just because i’m a US citizen, I was only allowed a three month extension where other friend with different nationality’s got six months and some got up to a year also my airport visa was expired the first month i was there with no expiration date mention or stamp on the visa ,and i was charged a penalty for one week late
  i hope my message will reach to the right person in charged I love eygpt but i started to change my opinion of coming here and visiting because of the treatment i got

  المشكلة انو بيعطو مواعيد بعيدة وكل شخص لى ظروفة عملت شهادة تحركات المفروض تطلع بعد ثلاثة ايام بيقولى اسبوع عملتها الاحد وبيقولى تعالا الاحد وانا مسافر السبت ولسة معملتش ازن السفر وانا محتاجها علشان ازن السفر بيحاولو في بلدنا الحبيبة يكفرونا ويهجرونا برة بلا رجعه

  Nothing seems to be moving... Was there for more than two days to register my residency & get a return VISA... Crowded like hell and no signs of order at all...
