    ما احلى مساكنك يارب اله الدهور ، تشتاق و تذوب نفسى للدخول الى ديار الرب ، The history of this church go back to 1874. Comboni received land from the
    Khedevi Ismail on which he was to construct a centre forfomtation of young Sudanese. At that time, Ramsis
    street was a big canal along which rm a road used mainly
    by cwavans going and coming from port of Bulaq.
    Comboni first built two institutes for missionaries, on 2'nd December 1880, he blessed the first stone
    of Cordi jesu . 'l"his became the first sanctuary in Africa
    to be dedicated to the Heart of Christ.
    completed in 1884. In 1927, the church was demolished so as to be enlarged and adorned with marble from Italy, Renovation was completed in 1930

    I remember going to church on Sundays. We used to call this church "Sacro Cuore". I remember there was a youth club in the basement. I think it was called "il circolo di Sant Antonio". Not sure though.
