آرت اللوا هي مساحة فنية أسسها ويديرها الفنان حمدى رضا منذ عام 2007. وتقع في منطقة أرض اللواء، وهي منطقة عشوائية مكتظة بالسكان تقع بين منطقتين عشوائيتين في القاهرة، أمبابة وبولاق الدكرور. قدمت آرت اللوا فضاءً حرًا لتكوين وتفعيل علاقات الحوار بين الفنانين والمجتمع؛ تسهيل مشاريع الفنانين، وإقامة ورش عمل لأفراد المجتمع المحلي والفنانين الناشئين، عرض الفنون وإستضافة الفنانين في بيت إقامة بالإضافة إلى توفير مشاريع خاصة لإثراء الحياة المدنية والثقافية في منطقة أرض اللوا، واستخدام الفن من أجل تحسين البيئة الحضرية.
تهدف ارت اللوا إلى خلق مساحة للتأمل خلال هذا المرحلة من الفترة الانتقالية ؛ مساحة لتجديد الأفكار والتفكير التقدمي وتحقيق الاتصال بين منطقة أرض اللوا وسكانها مع الثقافة الأوسع للمدينة والعالم من خلال الفن، وخلق فرصة فريدة من نوعها للفنانين المصريين والأجانب للتفاعل والتجريب مع المجتمع والبيئة المحلية.

سكان منطقة أرض اللوا والفنانين والمثقفين المحليين والدوليين.

المشاريع والأنشطة:

المعارض : يتم تنظيم المعارض الفنية في مساحة دكان آرت اللوا، وهو عبارة عن مساحة صغيرة مفتوحة على الشارع، وتقوم بتنظيم المعارض الفنية لكبار الفنانين والناشئين من داخل مصر وخارجها، وفي كل عام تقوم آرت اللوا بتنظيم المعرض الأول لفنان مصري واحد على الأقل.

ورش العمل : يقدمها الفنانون لأهالي المنطقة والفنانين الناشئين مجاناً ، او بمقابل رمزى .

الاقامة الفنية : يتم استضافة الفنانين من الخارج، للتفاعل مع مجتمع و بيئة أرض اللواء، ليقوموا بالبحث وتقديم أعمال فنية يتم عرضها، وتكوين علاقات مع المجتمع الفني في القاهرة، ويتوالى حضور الفنانين الأجانب للإقامة في آرت اللوا من 13 دولة حتى الآن، مثل لبنان وفلسطين والسودان وتركيا والأردن وأسبانيا وسويسرا والنرويج والولايات المتحدة.

فعاليات : تشمل معارض و ورش فنية متنوعة للأطفال و الكبار من المتخصصين و المهتمين بالفنون ،و من ليست لهم علاقه مباشره بالفن ،كما يتم تنظيم فاعليات مقابلة الفنانين التي تتيح للجمهور التعرف على الأعمال الفنية للفنانين المصريين والأجانب.

مشروعات : تهدف إلى إثراء الحياة المدنية والثقافية لمنطقة أرض اللواء، وتستخدم الفن في تطوير وتنمية بيئة المنطقة.

المرافق:

الدكان: تبلغ مساحة الدكان تسعةأمتار مربعة، ويواجه أحد الشوارع بمنطقة أرض اللواء الصاخبة. يضم الدكان معارض الفنانين ومشروعاتهم الخاصة، ولأن موقع “الدكان” يسمح للمارة بالتفاعل مع المكان فقد تم استخدام الدكان في عدة أغراض اخرى ومنها: ستوديو، غرفة عرض، مطعم وقهوة.

المطبخ : يشغل المطبخ جزءا من المنزل الخاص بالفنان “حمدي رضا” مؤسس آرت اللوا ومديرها العام، وتعتبر
مساحة “المطبخ” مساحة اجتماعات طارئة لـ “طبخ” الأفكار، ومن هذا المطبخ يتم التخيل لما سيكون عليه برنامج “آرت اللوا” حيث يتم تصور المشروعات و الهوية البصرية للمكان والطريقة التي سيستمر في النمو بها

الجراج: تعتبر مساحة ”الجراج” مكتبة ومكان لعقد الاجتماعات, الورش الفنية والمحاضرات ومجهزة ايضا بأماكن للجلوس تسع لثلاثين شخصا, بروجيكتور, شاشة عرض وأجهزة كمبيوتر و نظام صوتي.

الخلاط: هو ستوديو مفتوح وغير مقسم تم تصميمه لتسهيل التفاعل بين فنانين متنوعين أما عن الاحداثيات الخاصة بالاستوديو بالمكان فتبلغ مساحته مائة متر مربع ويبلغ ارتفاعه أربعة أمتار وخمس وعشرون سنتيمتر، ويتضمن ستوديو “الخلاط” مسرح صغير، مساحات للعمل فضلا عن بعض الأدوات والأجهزة المخصصة لانتاج أعمال فنية. خزانات خاصة بالفنانين لحفظ أشيائهم الخاصة وأدواتهم، طاولات وكراسي للعمل وكذلك دورة مياه ومطبخ صغير. ستوديو “الخلاط” يسع من أربع الى ست فنانين، او مجموعة مسرحية يعملون في نفس الوقت

السطح (١&٢) يعتبر “السطح” مكان للاجتماعات والورش الفنية واقامة الاحتفالات. وتتم التجمعات بشكل غير رسمي حيث حفلات الشواء في الهواء الطلق والمكان مجهز كذلك بدورة مياه، كراسي، طاولات واماكن للتخزين. ويعتبر السطح هو المكان المفضل للفنانين المقيمين بآرت اللوا حيث يستمتعون بالراحة والشمس.

الشقة (١) توجد “الشقة” في الدور الرابع وتستخدم كمكان إقامة للفنانين حيث تسع الشقة لاستضافة اثنان من الفنانين في نفس الوقت وذلك لوجود مكانين منفصلين للمعيشة والعمل بمدخلين منفصلين لدخول الشقة, ومطبخ مشترك, حمام مجهز وغرفة مشتركة مزودة بطاولات وكراسي للعمل والاجتماعات. تعتبر الشقة مجهزة ومزودة بالاحتياجات الأساسية لحياه ومعيشة مريحة.

الشقة (٢) وهي شقة اخري صغيرة تقع بالمبني الثان، وتستخدم ايضاً لأستضافة الفنانيين.

الصندوق (١) عبارة عن غرفة هادئة بمساحة ٢٠ متر، خالية من النوافذ تستخدم كمخزن.

الصندوق (٢) عبارة عن غرفة هادئة بمساحة ٢٥ متر، خالية من النوافذ تستخدم كمخزن ونخطط لتحويلها لإستوديو للصوت.

Who are we

artellewa is an art space, founded and managed by artist Hamdy Reda in 2007. The space is located in Ard El Lewa, a densely populated informal area located between two of Cairo’s informal areas, Imbiba and Boulak El Dakrour. artellewa creates a space for the formation and activation of dialogue between artists and society; facilitates artists projects, offers workshops for community members and emerging artists, exhibits art and hosts artists-in-residence in addition to providing special projects to enrich the civic and cultural life in Ard El Lewa, and use art to improve the urban environment

artellewa aims to create a space for reflection during this time of transition; a space for rejuvenation of ideas and progressive thought and connect Ard El Lewa and its inhabitants with the broader culture of the city and the world through art, and creates a unique opportunity for Egyptian and foreign artists to interact and experiment with the local community and environment. artellewa creates a space for the formation and activation of dialogue between artists and society

Projects and activities
EXHIBITIONS: held in the artellewa Dokkan, a small workshop opens to the street. In addition to exhibiting the work of established and emerging artists from Egypt and abroad, each year artellewa holds the first exhibition of at least one young Egyptian artist
ARTIST-LED WORKSHOPS: offered free of cost,or low cost to community members and emerging artists
ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE: hosts foreign artists who interact with the community and environment of Ard El Lewa, research and produce artworks, show their work in the artellewa Dokkan, and build networks with the Cairo arts community. Artists have hailed from 13 countries, including Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Turkey, Jordan, Spain, Switzerland, Norway and the United States

EVENTS: including exhibitions and workshops for children, adults who practicing art or those interested in art . Also Meet-the-artist events offer the public the opportunity to hear about the work of local and international artists .

SPECIAL PROJECTS: which enrich the civic and cultural life in Ard El Lewa, and use art to improve the urban environment

Facilities

The Dokkan (shop) is nine-meter cube, open to the bustling street of Ard El Lewa. The Dokkan holds artists’ exhibitions and projects. Among its various incarnations, the dokkan has been studio, screening room, restaurant, and coffee shop. Its location encourages maximum interaction with passersby

The Matbakh (Kitchen) Part of the home of founder and managing director Hamdy Reda, the Matbakh is a casual meeting place for “cooking” ideas. Here is where artellewa was first imagined, where its visual identity is conceived, and where it continues to grow

The Garage a library and meeting place for workshops and lectures. It is equipped with seating for up to 30 persons, projector, computers, screen and sound system

Al Khalat (Mixer) is an open, undivided studio designed to facilitate interaction between diverse artists. The 100 square meter studio is located on the ground floor, with ceilings of 4.25 meters. It includes a simple theater, spaces for work, and some devices and utilities for artistic production. The studio is equipped with storage cupboards, tables and chairs for work, a bathroom and kitchenette for drinks. The studio accommodates 4-6 artists or a theater group at a time

The Roof (1&2) is a place to meet, workshops and to celebrate. Informal gatherings are held on the roof, with a barbecue, bathroom, chairs, tables, and storage. Open to the sky and the sounds of the neighborhood, the Roof is a favorite place for artists-in-residence to relax and enjoy the sun

The Apartment (1) Located on the fourth floor, the apartment is a residency which can accommodate two artists at a time. Two spacious live/work studios with separate entrances are connected with a shared kitchen, full bathroom, and common room with tables and chairs for working and meeting. The apartment is equipped with all the basic necessities for comfortable living in the style of informal settlement homes
