Watched the première of 'Dunkirk' in the cinema. The cinema has only one room. Screen is big enough, sound is good, cateringservice plenty to choose.

A professional theatre in the small northeastern town of Rakvere, which at present has ca 17,000 inhabitants, was opened in 1940. In Soviet times unconfirmed, but highly probable reports cited Rakvere as the smallest place with a theatre of its own in the whole empire.
Being, anyway, the smallest theatre in Estonia, its best actors and actresses have often been lured away to other theatres. The Working conditions have been hard: as the town itself cannot provide enough spectators, the company is often on tours. Nevertheless, the Rakvere Theatre has seen its periods of brilliance. One was in the late 1970s and early 1980s, under artistic director Raivo Trass. Afterwards the theatre has been led, in succession, by Madis Kalmet, Arvi Mägi, and Peeter Jalakas. The latter brought the biennial alternative theatre festival Baltoscandal with him, and it has continued to function in Rakvere even upon Jalakas return to Tallinn. A new rise began in 1996, when a group of freshly graduated theatre students joined the troupe; Üllar Saaremäe became the artistic director and Indrek Saar the managing director of the company.
At present it consists of 20 actors; the theatre has a 411-seat traditional proscenium stage and a 200-seat black-box auditorium. The current repertoire includes ca 20 plays, mostly by contemporary authors; annually more than 250 performances for over 60,000 spectators are given.
