My expectations were very low, however I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed my time at this zoo. The exhibits were well maintained and the animals seemed happy and active. It was surprisingly stroller friendly and well laid out. There are cute bear tracks painted on the path to direct you. These are in addition to the little sign posts at intersections. It was just enough to keep my toddler entertained but not overwhelmed. There were many bathrooms and water spigot (for refilling water bottles or hand drinking) interspersed throughout exibits. The staff were very friendly and stationed at every exibits. I imagen they are there more to monitor the guests' behavior rather than answer detailed questions about the animals, however when had a quick question, it was happily answered. There is a little food vendor and picnic tables in the center of the zoo. They served salchipaps, hotdogs and other quick foods. Another surprise was that I was able to get a plate of roasted chicken with rice and lentils. A packed lunch could have easily been brought and enjoyed as well. There is also a petting zoo area with carrots on sale to feed animals such as sheep, horse, and llamas. We arrived at about 10am, had lunch and took our time seeing the animals and left around 1:30. The drive out there was tricker than the return trip.

The zoo has the most of the usual animals but it also has some giant turtles which is hard to see in other zoos as well as a petting zoo for the kids

Great for taking young kids. I'm comparing it to my local Bronx zoo which gets 5 stars for vast variety of animals. Best part was the petting zoo area where you buy carrots and feed sheep, cows, and yes, Llamas! Have some great mighty condors too!
