Horribly steamed milk. I suppose the cinnamon was a nice touch but for 3 dollafs, as opposed to 2 or 2.50 elsewhere, I was hoping for a really good coffee. Will stay in Mindo 5 days and not get coffee here again.

Probably my Worst experience in a restaurant EVER. Terrible and expensive.
I had a chicken with chocolate : the chocolate was a f* KitKat bar. They also put some porc without mentioning it .
My friends got other dishes : expensive and without taste.
I can't believe the few good reviews they have .. don't go there, there are so many good places in Mindo .

The Beehive is a pretty cool little place. It's a part of Dragonfly Inn and their restaurant, so the vibe is more Inn-meets-café than coffeeshop, but that being said Dragonfly's restaurant is pretty good. Beehive itself is decent. The Americano and Cappuccino could both use some work, although they're surely better than instant. The chocolate caliente, in true Ecuadorian fashion, is excellent. One thing you can count on, however, is breakfast. It doesn't taste like an "almuerzo" and that's a good thing. If you're a Westerner--and if you're reading a review in English you likely are--you'll enjoy this breakfast. Also, there are views over a little creek and with numerous birdfeeders you're definitely going to see some of Mindo's ubiquitous birds.

A very pleasant spot along the creek with tasty, fresh food and a very laid back atmosphere. A great place to stop for a mellow breakfast and coffee while listening to the creek and birds.

I have to admit, Mindo wasn't exactly what I was expecting and we left a day early. The wait for the bus is excruciatingly long so we grabbed something to drink here while we waited 4 hours for our bus back to Quito. In my usual fast paced mode I ordered and paced around. The owner simply told me to relax "Relax, you don't have anywhere to go". I realized he was right. We sat on the back deck overlooking the creek. Soon hummingbirds were fluttering around, butterflies and chickens and I even saw a Basilisk. Ok, so Mindo wasn't so bad after all. We had coffees, some kind of home-made sodas and a really nice afternoon here. The beautiful family that owns this cafe may have recently opened the Dragonfly B&B. Be sure to check both of these places out if ever in Mindo.
