  2017 Update: This place is still great! Still has great food, an awesome view, condors, and hummingbirds. There's also now a new guest house, which has a kitchenette and sleeps up to 10! It's down the hill from the restaurant and overlooks Laguna las Secas. I stayed there for two nights and it was awesome. I also met a few volunteers staying there who are helping restore native vegetation to the property. It is great to see that Vladimir and Veronica are continuing to do great work with Tambo Condor.

  I stayed at a cabin at Tambo Condor for three weeks while researching Andean ibises in the nearby Antisana Ecological Reserve. The owners, Vladimir and Veronica, are incredibly nice people (though knowledge of Spanish is helpful if you want to have a good conversation with them). Vladimir is quite knowledgeable of the birds of the area and is happy to show any birder around the property. In terms of bird life, condor sighting are nearly guaranteed every single day, and hummingbirds such as sword-billed giant, sparkling violetear, and black-tailed trainbearer are common sights. By taking the trail down from the restaurant you can access Laguna las Secas, which often has Andean gulls, slate-colored coots, and ducks.
  Food is simple and relatively inexpensive compared to nearby locations, yet tasty. Fried trout is one of Veronica’s specialties. There is no heating in the restaurant or in the cabins, so warm clothes are advised. For anyone staying there, the showers are heated using electricity, and the power is liable to go out whenever it rains (which is reasonably often). Also there is no outdoor lighting, so bring a flashlight.
  Overall, Tambo Condor is a reasonably priced place to stay and eat with a beautiful property, great owners, and great bird life. I would definitely return!

  Me quedé en una cabaña en el Tambo Condor durante tres semanas mientras investigaba bandurrias andinas en la cercana Reserva Ecológica Antisana. Los dueños, Vladimir y Verónica, son gente muy amable. Vladimir conoce las aves de la zona y está feliz de mostrar cualquier pajarero alrededor de la propiedad. En cuanto a la avifauna, avistamientos de cóndores casi están garantizado todos los días, y los colibríes son comunes. Puede acceder la Laguna la Secas tomando el camino hacia abajo desde el restaurante, que a menudo tiene fochas, gaviotas y patos.

  I just returned from a 10-day trip to Ecuador, the last night of which we spent at Tambo Condor. Tambo Condor's location is stunning, its lodge rustic but welcoming, warm and clean with a wonderful hearth and walls of windows to enable viewing of the hummingbird feeders and cliffs where the Andean Condors often roost. We had 4 meals at the lodge and they were excellent, featuring local crops prepared traditionally, as well as hearty main courses of more familiar fare. The fig in sauce, an Ecuadoran specialty we were told, was a favorite of our group, and the soups and trout were delicious, too.
  
  Our group of 8 stayed in the bunkhouse, which is uninsulated so chilly at night, but it has a fireplace and lovely rooms with bathrooms and recently added hot water for showers. It is perched above a stunning gorge with views of a large lake and surrounded by flowering shrubs buzzing with hummingbirds and other birds.
  This is not a 5-star hotel experience - it is much better than that. Tambo Condor is run by a hard-working young couple with a few other staff or helpers. It is a walk or jeep ride down through a pleasant pasture from the lodge to the bunkhouse. The grounds are kept up, but not manicured.
  Birding along the road near the lodge is good, but too low for paramo species. It is hard to overstate the views and coziness of the lodge.

  Excelente servicio, alimentación y experiencia en general. Lo mejor son los paisajes, el avistamiento de cóndores y colibries que llegan al jardín del restaurante
