  Gave a 2 star rating only because the service was very poor on three different occasions. Two years ago the service was good, so not sure why it has changed.

  A popular place for Porto Viejo's middle class. I ordered a soup (caldo de hueso) and pescado empanado with rice and patacones. My wife and I shared a mondongo soup. The food was/is satisfying but this place can get busy. It's big, more than 100 seats. The wait staff have their hands full most of the time so be ready to wait a little for service. If you want to be seen and see who's here in P.V. Tomate is definitely a good place to go.
  
  P.s. If you want to take a pavita (siesta) they have hammocks somewhere around the back. Check them out if you're interested. It's sort of a custom in this part of Manabi at least.

  Antes era un restaurante muy bueno, parada obligatoria cuando se visitaba Portoviejo, ahora han decaído mucho, ya no es lo mismo, una lástima q este restaurante no haya conservado el buen sabor de sus platos

  Hace años que no desayunaba con un suero blanco tan bueno; el caldo de chancho con habas y el viche son muy recomendados. hay que esperar mucho a veces, pero la espera, vale la pena

  Les doy dos estrellas porque tienen una pésima atención y porque la ultima vez que comí ahí por la noche me hizo daño la comida ya que creo yo que era recalentada del almuerzo.
  Hay que decir que para mi punto de vista hasta el año 2010 era muy deliciosa la comida pero ya perdieron el toque y la seriedad al recalentar la comida que se le queda.

  Muy buena comida, atención dentro de lo normal, lugar amplio y con bastante estacionamiento, recomendable para ir a disfrutar en familia x ser un lugar acogedor.
