I didn't see it much as a Refugio (reserve), BUT thinking how much of these mountains are cultivated or used as pastures, IT IS a reserve. The vegetation is really unique, a good reason to think that if there is any wildlife left, this is a very good place to.

Beautiful area. Camping, hiking, birdwatching, etc. A little difficult to get to though. You have to go to Amaguaña and hire one of the cargo taxi pickup trucks, which costs about seven bucks. You can also arrange a time for the driver to come back up pick you up.
