Beautiful crater lake, the colors of the water were constantly changing due to the clouds. Someone said how you couldn't take a bad picture of the lake, and I agree with them. I highly recommend going, the kayaking is so much fun and there are some beautiful views when hiking around the crater. There are plenty of hotels nearby, and you can get dinner, breakfast, and a room for $15 a person. It gets pretty cold at night, so prepare for that. After hiking down to the lake, you can rent horses for the trip back up, but the hike is not very difficult at all so I recommend just walking.
A favorite place of mine in ecuador
Really beautiful place.
The way down is easy, up quite a climb.
You can take a mule back to the top, $10 pp.
The swing is only opened in the weekend!
Beautiful Laguna surrounded by jagged cliffs. The place is easy to find and don't miss the Shalala Lodge viewing deck just a couple kilometer hike from main parking lot. You can see it from a satellite view on Google Maps. The weather can be unpredictable so come prepared.
Beautiful volcanic crater with a lake in it. Hiking trails down to the lake where you can kayak. You can also hike the 15km around the rim of the crater which looks beautiful. Hostels to stay and eat on the rim.
Amazing scenery at and around the quilotoa loop / area. We did a 2 day hiking tour (Quilotoa - Chugchilan - Inslivi) which offered many impressive views!
It is a marvelous adventure, we arrived there with my 13th years old son and it was amazing for all of us, on our way down we took 1 hour to arrived to the crater, it was not that hard even if it was 8pm, at 9.15pm we put out tent and eat a little bit. A looot of wind at night (secure well your tent!), you will find a few dogs over there but harmless. And in the morning we woke up with a beautiful landscape! amazing!, you can use little boats, drink canelazo, but you will have to take with you food, there's no food down there. You can do trekking (walk around the crater aprox 4hrs), explore the surroundings, there a culumpio there too. On our way up you will have 2 options, go up by horse/burrito ooooor walk to the top, of course we choose to walk, but I'm not in that good shape right now and it was really hard and for my son was reaaaally exhausting.
If you love nature, you need to go to Quilotoa!.
