All of the staff at Minka Hostel were very friendly and helpful. Ellen was very accommodating in helping me organize transportation to the airport and helping me meet other travellers to spend time with while in Quito. The communal areas and rooms are immaculately clean. Breakfast is delicious and the building feels very secure. I would definitely come back again!

Nice cozy hostel with friendly staff and volunteers, warm showers were available, many breakfast to choose from, beds were comfy but bunks were quite difficult, kitchen facilities should be improved,

Good place where to stay between 2 destinations or just to relax!
It might be hard to find, just a small yellow facade between houses.
Here this is what you will appreciate:
-Good location, in the historical center and near the bus stop "Almenda".
-The effort put into the nice decoration! Lots of pieces of art, fun maps, fun facts abbout Quito, vegetations which make the place so much lively!
-Cool place where to chill such as the hamocks or sofa at every floors or the small but nice rooft top terrasse.
-Last but not least! A really helpfull, attentif, kind staff! The lady who works generally in the morning, try hard to help you in the best way she can! And it's such
encouraging when you're getting lost in this such big city!
Volunteers who work here are mostly really open mind and you probably end up going out party wth them.
Good shower place, confortable bed in most of the dorms. Just avoid "Place grande" it's cold, dark and you hear the noises of the street :/
I loved the kitchen, really nice when you want to cook!

Checked in, 20 min later checked out.
I had high hopes based on the reviews and the communal area but once I entered my room I was left speechless. There were clumps of hair in the sink and someone's shampoo in the shower which would indicate that they didn't even bother to clean the bathroom. The room was very run down, dirty walls and stained furniture. The window was broken and did not shut, which is an issue considering that it gets quite cold at night. Every second blind was broken and lying on the floor. No one even bothered to pick those up. I know it's a hostel and I didn't expect any luxuries but for 30 USD per night someone at least could clean the room. I ended up moving to an awesome hotel up the road that charged me 50 USD per night and had breakfast included.

Good hostel and nice space, good breakfast for $3, bit expensive though, especially seeing as the hot water is on and off, and we had a 3h electricity failure. Nice staff though not very knowledgeable: ie failed to tell me that everything must be paid in cash so had to make a despo run for it at night and most banks were closed (was new to Ecuador, ha, the learning curve), thought taxi ride to airport was around $8 and 30 min away had to tell them it was $26 and more like an hour, booked me the wrong bed the second time I stayed, did not know where my pick up was for the tour they booked me (though they did send details so I could check) couldnt help much with transportation solutions to Colombia. They do admittedly sell good tours though.

The owners go way out of their way to make one feel welcome. There's a strong community of staff and guests if you're looking for friends or simply beautiful space if looking for a place to rest and reflect.

It's in the Centro Historico so, you're located in a central part of Quito, a block from the basilica and other amazing attractions. However, you will be conveniently located away from the area that is swarming with young European tourists trying to party. Should you want that though, it's a $2 taxi ride.

I ended up spending nearly a week here. It's comfortable, cosy and place you can relax at.
It has everything you would want in a hostel. There is an upstairs bar as well and a mini restaurant where you buy breakfast. It was fairly quiet when I stayed there so the activities advertised didn't really happen. Sandra, who seems to be the manager, was a font of information and very helpful. There seemed to be a lot of volunteers at reception as well. Some were better than others. There was a slight issue with hot water in showers going from scolding hot to come occasionally.

It's located fairly close to main tourist area so I would recommend here.
