Our guide, Eddie, had a great attitude and was very friendly. You can probably do the tour on your own though. Flashlights are not provided, so you have to use your cellphone light. The tour is only in Spanish and you end up seeing only a third of what is mentioned at the beginning of the tour. This is a great tour for kids, but not worth $5 in my opinion. FYI, the taxi to get there from the town is $2 each way and they want you to be there at 6:45 pm to give you a drink and an introduction. The walk starts at 7 pm and lasts an hour.

Mindo Lago has really pretty views. It is completely surrounded by forestry. Therefore, full of bugs, gnats, mosquitoes, and spiders. The drive way to the hotel is a dirt road, and some taxis may just drop you in front and walk down to the hotel which is like a 5 min walk. From the reception area to your room is also a dirt path, so be careful not to slip. It could definitely improve in some safety features, but the view is nice and the beds are comfortable. There’s no central AC and can be kind of muggy in the rooms, but bearable. And the frogs sing to you all night 😁

Mindo Lago is an absolutely stunning place to stay. It is a short walk from the town Centre, offers an awesome breakfast and has good food options available if you choose to stay for dinner as well. Despite its close proximity to town it feels as though you are surrounded by the cloud forest. There is a pond with a little boat to take out, and a swimming pool, which my little sister loved. It also offers laundry, and is overall a lovely place to stay. But Mindo Lago is more than just a place to stay, it was created to be a haven for native plants and animals, particularly amphibians. They offer a nighttime walk, called the frog chorus, led by a guide who is so knowledgeable about the local plants and animals and knows just where to find them. The tour was mostly in Spanish but the guide knows some english and it was definitely worth it even for those who speak no spanish. This tour is aptly named because at night in Mindo Lago all you can hear are the sounds of the frogs - it is truly incredible. I would have liked to spend more time at Mindo Lago and would 100% recommend it to anyone who passes through Mindo (which is a beautiful little town also highly recommended). And for anyone who enjoys birds, frogs, flowers, and other wildlife it is a must-see in Mindo.

We went to the frog concert here, which is slightly bizarre for the first half an hour. Essentially you are sitting at the outdoor reception chatting, drinking your free glass (literally a shot glass) of wine and waiting for something to happen. We could hear frogs, sure, but it's not until after the fact that you learn the high pitched chirps are not crickets, but are also frogs. If i'd known that I wouldve appreciated it more I'm sure. Afterwards though you go on a night walk and see loads of weird spiders, bugs and frogs. We'll worth the $5, though don't expect it to be in English.

Mindo Lago is a lovely location for an overnight stay with beautiful lake and cabins albeit dated. At the time of visiting there were building works going on nearby affecting our sleep on both nights. All staff were pleasant and polite.

We had a great stay. An amazing hotel in the jungle. Clean rooms, really friendly staff, free frog tour around the hotel but unfortunately only in Spanish. Delicious food. Can fully recommend this hotel.
If you have not a deep sleep don't forget your earplugs. Frogs can be loud.response / report this review -

Hermoso lugar para conectarse con la naturaleza comida muy rica de casa jugos deliciosos.. habitaciones confortables muy cerca de lugares para hacer deportes. No olviden llevar repelente pero es muy bonito.

Best hotel in Mindo in my opinion as a frequent visitor , great rooms, great food, and excellent attention. Would recommend to stay at least 2 nights if possible. Try the Frog Concert if you like nature. Tell the owner that you were recomended by the Chavez Family.

Lindo lugar, estuve por el concierto de ranas. Fue muy interesante poder verlas en su hábitat y conocer sus diferencias a pesar de ser de la ciudad y no estar habituado a ellas.
Seria bueno recomendar traer linterna propia, mejor si es de cabeza, para tener las manos libres y así usarlas para tomar fotos y/o sostenerse y evitar un resbalón.response / report this review -
