Be very careful buying food here because meat and fish are typically not refrigerated!! When restaurants buy meat/fish/chicken that has not been refrigerated, customers are likely to regret that meal!!
Fruits and vegetables are fine if peeled. Otavalo's Municipal Market is in a new, covered building. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean the meat and fish are refrigerated!! It's pretty incredible that a new market was built without meat lockers having been installed for the vendors to rent!
Salud Pública should enforce refrigeration of meat and fish in Ecuador!response / report this review -
