Balsa Surf Camp is amazing! Superior hospitality, incredibly delicious food at a reasonable price, and direct access to the beach at Montañita. Best food we ate in Ecuador. Try the ceviche, pina colada, veggie burger, and mojito. It’s a tranquil oasis next to a thumping beach town. We don’t know how to surf (and didn’t attempt to learn), nor do we enjoy racious night life, but we absolutely loved Balsa Surf Camp. The ambience is tranquil and rejuvenating. You can pop into Montañita -a 10 minutes walk down the beach- any time you want for the discotecas and bars. We rented a car from the Guayaquil airport and made it to BSC in under 3 hours without hassle. Private parking behind a locked gate included. The accommodations are super cozy with hot water, fresh towels every day, and a cool ocean breeze for easy sleeping. Use the staff as a resource for planning area day trips. They know locals to contact. Julie hooked us up with a great tour operator out to Isla de la Plata at below market rate.

Nice hotel away from the craziness of the pueblito. Chilled atmosphere with pleasant hosts. I would recommend staying here and would be quite happy to return sometime. Nicely laid back right on the beach with good choice of food and drink.

La construcción es acogedora, el personal es relativamente amable. Carecen de calidez. Pero la habitación que nos entregaron, MUY SUCIA.La cama llena de manchas como de semen. Nunca limpiaron el baño, ni el basurero. El baño no cuenta ni con repisas o piso para poner la ropa, además es sucio.
RECOMIENDO NO PEDIR HABITACIÓN EN PRIMER PISO. ES MUY OSCURO Y HÚMEDO.response / report this review -

Best place to be: very cool design, the owners made this place truly amazing. Nice rooms, nice social areas, great staff, perfect ambiance in a wooden/bamboo hotel. I recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, ambiance and good vibe ;)

Strandbadetücher, 24x7 Rezeption ist etwas was ich hier schätze. Zu dem sind die Zimmer sehr liebevoll gestaltet. Der innen Hof ist mit localen Pfannen bunt arrangiert. Ein super Ort zum verweilen.

Mi hija y yo siempre disfrutamnos de ir, sobretodo por la ubicación perfecta cerca d la playa y lejos del ruido fiestero. Además el desayuno es delicioso con ingredientes típicos de la costa. El servicio al cliente es excelente!

I stayed here about 4 years ago and had the time of my life! Every day, since that time, I dream of returning to the Balsa Surf Camp. Everybody was amazing, and I cannot wait to return (4yrs later). What a great memory and I consider them family still.
