Good hostal, 10min walk from the center. The room was a little smelly and the bathroom could use a little makeover as well. Overall alright for a one night stay but not more than that. The owner was really friendly and helpful though Pro tip: bring ear plugs unless you enjoy dogs barking all night 🐶

This hostel is probably just too good in every way to fit into most definitions of a hostel. It's large, spacious, exceedingly friendly, quiet, fairly well stocked, has a great location, and it's gorgeous.
The wifi does leave a lot to be desired, but it steamed Netflix when we got too tired to go out. We also found that the private bathrooms could use better ventilation; rather they empty steam into the accompanying room. These things seem trivial, however, compared to the joy of finding accommodations of this caliber for this price. Rooms either open into quaint courtyards or onto pretty balconies overlooking the city from the hill. Each room contains an internet-connected television, comfy bed, tables and lights, as well as a bathroom with hot showers.
The owner, Roberto, is an expert on the local area. He greeted us with a custom map of the area for us showing all major attractions within an hour drive and a layout of the city including major shopping areas for weekdays and weekends. He also showed us where the city is most and least safe (it's a very safe city).
If in Otavalo again, we will stay with Roberto. You should as well.response / report this review -

Muy recomendable. Buen precio y excelente atención de Roberto. Nos orientó en lugares y formas de llegar. Tranquilo y con ambientes compartidos como cocina para conocer otros turistas. Tiene lavarropas disponible y buena ubicación.

It is well located, it has a beautiful view of Otavalo. Rooms are spacious and clean. The kitchen is well-equiped. Good wifi service.

Fairly basic facilities but a stunning view from the rooftop terrace. (Ask for the rooftop room!) DVD player in room with lots of DVDs available to use free of charge. Kitchen with free tea and break rolls.
