Absolutely amazing place. Feels like you are in a tree house in a jungle. Cabins have amazing views; you can actually watch the sunset while laying in bed. Food is great. Santiago does an amazing job running the place. One of my fave spots in the world. Highly recommend.

Not worth it. Restaurant prices too expensive ($2 for a 0.5 bottle of water for example) and no tiendas or alternative restaurants in the surrounding. The apartments (cabañas) are only accessible from the reception/restaurant via a very muddy public street. They don't allow wearing shoes in their apartments and restaurant, which is very unusual for ecuador. The restaurant staff is very friendly but unorganized.

The pool is much smaller than it seems on the photos. Nevertheless it has, like the restaurant, no direct connection to the cabañas. There is no direct connection to the beach as well, because the land between the street and the beach is privately owned.

The only positive aspect is the view, which is very breathtakig. We planned to stay 3 nights but decided to quit after the first.

We visited Finca Punta Ayampe 3 days ago, guided by the positive reviews Google showed us. The website from the Finca is also very beautiful and modern, one of the best I have seen from hotels in Ecuador. That being said, there was almost nothing positive about our visit. We stayed at a very nice cabaña with amazing view, however very far from the reception and also from the pool. This was the first minus point for us, the connecting ways in the hotel were poorly done. Because of the intense rain, we had to get wet and dirty walking the muddy and dark way to the restaurant. We also realized there were no shops in near distance, which made it hard to become fresh water. The hotel only offered small bottles for two dollar each!!! The prices in the restaurant were also out of this world and completely overrated. We heard a costumer complaining about this to the manager and he told her off saying it wasn't a restaurant but a hotel so what does she expect?
The food was pretty much ok but not worth its price at all. We were also offered WiFi, which we only had at the restaurant, or should I say not a restaurant? Anyways, after having dinner we had to walk to our cabaña while it was raining even more. The way by that time was absolutely disgusting and creepy.
Should I mention the pool? Not worth the talk, as it was the size of a paddle and also as dirty.
The night was pretty much ok, even though the sheets smelled like they hadn't been washed in a while and the ventilator was definitely too old and cold. For 55 dollar per night I was at least expecting air conditioning.

Long story short, we had planned to stay 3 nights at the Finca Punta Ayampe but after a night we had to move on to a way better place with better service.
AlsoAt breakfast we heard the manager tell the employees to make payed breakfast plates bigger, as they were being payed. Our breakfast was included in the tariff, so we got small portions and had to wait almost an hour for them.
Needless to say we won't be coming back!

It was over a decade ago that I was there and I had a great time. The veggie burrito was great back then too. I remember the ceviche was also very good.

Food is very good. Ask for their famous carrot hot sauce. The Veggie burrito is my favorite here. Try to get at 4:30pm so you can see a beautiful sunset from their balcony.
