Great food, probably the best place serving Mexican food in Cuenca. This is not a texmex restaurant though, so if you are planning on having texmex you should look somewhere else. Is a little bit pricey, but not much when compared with other restaurants of this quality.
Great ambience, very delicious food and not too pricey
Best Mexican cuisine I’ve enjoyed outside of Mexico. I applaud the serious dedication put into this restaurant. The ambiance, the setting, the plating, but most importantly (and obviously) the ingredients, recipes, and flavors are very high-quality. The Yucatán pork was succulent and flavorful. The pickled Jalapeño appetizer was the perfect level of spice and went great with the rest of my meal. I am a budget traveler, but my girlfriend and I wanted to treat ourselves to a good meal after a long days travel, and this was the perfect spot. It is definitely one of the priciest meals ($28, appetizer, 2 mains, 2 cocktails) we’ve paid for, but we absolutely love Mexican cuisine and found the price to be worth it. This is better than any Mexican food i had growing up in California for 30 years (not that Cali is Mexico, but it’s almost half Mexican, as are my step dad and my ex-wife). If you don’t appreciate fancy meals or don’t think Mexican cuisine can be elevated above tacos/burritos, then go somewhere else for a cheaper meal. If you want to treat your SO to a nice meal out, then go here.
The food was good. But the prices for the amount of food was way off. $25 for a 2 person fajita when the portion was really for 1 person. A kids meal with potatoes and a small piece of chicken was $6. I really think that they should cut all their prices in half. I'd pay $3 for the kids meal and $12.50 for the fajitas. We won't ever go back. The service was ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. In summary, high class prices for normal food.
This cozy restaurant is my favorite in Cuenca for mexican cuisine. The food is always delicious and the service is great. They will prepare your meal to the level of picante you desire.
Great Lunch spot.
Food not bad but very overpriced
This is an amazing place where you can eat the most delicious Mexican food in Cuenca.
If you look for the traditional food that you will find usually in DF or Puebla where the meet dissolves in your mouth and you have a flashback of your positive memories in Mexico then this is the place to be.
Chicken mole cooked to perfection. I give it a start for the simplicity in execution and the complexity behind the flavors that creates the trio gusto experience.
The steak "Asada a la tampiqueña" was cooked medium rare and it was perfect executed. Great grilled on the cote with a pink center. A hint of spices combined with the harmless cream and roasted peppers created an extreme balance while the meat was dissolving inside you mouth with some added cheese. They must have got the meat on the day and the past time I recall this quality was back in Scotland.
All together this place have an own character of cuisine as the guacamole and frijole been a bit out of the Mexican box but considering the quality and freshness of ingredients this is seriously good and I enjoyed actually this flavors and after all we are in Ecuador.
The price reflect a standard Restaurant in Ecuador it is a bit expensive but quality quality quality and for us who come from London and Düsseldorf this was extremely good and affordable for a very nice special dinner.
The food is just okay but is way overpriced for the area. The prices are what you would spend in a large city in the US. However in the US the quality would be better and you would receive your fill of chips and salsa. The service was reasonable until we received our food. Then the waiters disappeared. Good thing we did not want a refill. It also took a long time to get the check, after it was requested. That said if you are looking for something different than you have been reading in Cuenca and are willing to accept the downsides with this place it is not a horrible choice.
Way overpriced, and the food is not that good
Bad option. Tourist trap. Way over priced, terrible food.
The food was good, but we waited a very long long time !!! And we finaly received our guacamole the nachos were soft because of the waiting in the kitchen and the main course was served 2 minutes later. Our mojitos weren't cold any more when we had got the nachos 45 minutes later.
