Que bello y majico
La selva es lo más
Un lugar muy esoecial
Firstly, the Cuyabeno section of Amazonia is, quite simply, sublime. People should absolutely visit this incredible, gorgeous piece of planet earth.
This 1-star review is of the Cuyabeno Lodge. This lodge, simply put, was a disappointment. It would be difficult to recount the comedy of errors that was our time at this lodge, but in brief our chief complaints are as follows:
- No one from the lodge--coordinating our excursions--greeted my wife and I when we arrived. In fact, the first day we were effectively ignored even when we tried to find out who was coordinating with us. Our first day, despite great weather, we didn't do anything despite paying for exactly that. We also were ignored the following night and didn't do our "night walk" until we complained.
- There is a general disarray in the coordination of trips. There are various groups and each day feels like an ad-hoc attempt at making everyone happy, rather than fulfilling their contractual agreements. It's very frustrating and the many groups here, from various outfitters, commonly are complaining about the confusion that leads to people not doing what they were told they'd do.
- Our room was very dirty when we arrived and was not cleaned during our time there. The water was also cold and was cold for everyone we talked to. This despite each room having the showerhead heaters and electricity. The water wasn't even lukewarm as is the norm with those heating elements.
- The food is fine, and about 9/10ths of a full meal. There is no way to purchase food there, only drinks, so I highly recommend you bring food with you!
- When we were to leave they forgot about us for almost an hour before arranging our boat transport.
- While this is not a feature of the lodge per se, weather determines a lot of your experience. Keep that in mind.
We loved the jungle, but we're very disappointed in the lodge and the staff there. We liked one guide, Viktor, but the rest of the outfit was disorganized and unhelpful. We wish them the best but we would caution anyone from using them in the future. Keep in mind that many tour operators in Lago Agrio, such as Marco Polo Tours, utilize this lodge so ask before purchasing.
Bueno suerte.
Excelente experiencia. Las instalaciones son adecuadas, la atención fue excelente y se realizan muchas actividades
I stayed here many years ago and the experience was unforgettable. There are no roads to the lodge, so we traveled via canoe for two hours in the rainforest, which offered incredible sightseeing. The flora and fauna were absolutely incredible, and we saw everything from sloths to monkeys to cayman to anacondas, even freshwater dolphins. At the lodge, food was always excellent and the staff was very outgoing. There was never a shortage of activities, and we swam in the lagoon, boated around the area on wildlife watches, hiked through the rainforest both during the day and the night, and visited a nearby village. It was my first experience outside my home country and it was absolutely unforgettable.
