It's an incredibly beautiful place. The mountains in this area are really beautiful, reaching up to 5000 meters. There are trekking routes up to 5 hours too.

Great place! The Loop is very easy to find and it's easy to medium level, when we went it was raining a little bit, so the road went a little bit slippery. I highly recommend going there with Mountain boots and rain jacket. Definitely worth it.

Special place, well worth the effort of walking around. The views change quite a lot so I really would encourage you to go all the way around. It takes 5 hours so get there before lunch, last entrance is at 5 and I think there is 24 hour security so if you get there late and need a taxi back to Cotacachi you're not completely screwed.

This is an amazing place to visit.there is a trail to hike around the lake, which takes about 4.5 hour to traverse, and there is a local museum to learn more about the history of the surrounding region. It is a really nice place to visit.

Ecuador es un país maravilloso para visitar. El servicios de trasporte es muy sencillo, excelente y barato, con carreteras en muy buen estado. Para llegar a la reserva Cotacachii se puede tomar un bus desde Quito con destino a Otavalo (costo $3 2017). Duración aproximada de 2 horas. El bus se toma desde la Terminal Terrestre de Carcelén, ubicada al norte de la ciudad. Hay dos compañías que te llevan a Otavalo: “Los Lagos” y “Otavalo Buses”. Salen a lo largo del día, alternativamente, cada 20 minutos. Al llegar a Otavalo, se toma un taxi que cobra $5 (2017) que lo lleva directo a la reserva que se encuentra a 12 km de Otavalo. No hay costo de entrada, dentro de la reserva se puede tomar un bote para darle vuelta a las islas que se encuentran dentro del cráter.
