My favorite painting was in the back of the church on the right hand wall. It was a large painting of the Depiction of Eternal Damnation. Each sin was shown. It also showed the punishment appropriate for the sin. What a way to scare people into submission. No photos as they are not allowed in the church. I took a few before I discovered that fact. The 5.00 admission a bit steep for Equador. I guess the painting was worth it it held my attention for quite a period. I viewed with apprehension, hopefully not seeing myself.

Be mindful of it's hours of operation. Unlike other places in Quito, it closes at 16:00 so be sure to arrive there before that. Unfortunately we weren't able to go inside in the one day in Quito that we had because we arrived at 4:40 and were told by the guard that it's closed already.

Of the touristy places to visit, this is probably one of the better. The church is gilded all on the inside, which is quite interesting. Plenty of art hangs on the walls as well.

The entry fee is $5 compared to $3 for most other museums, but it is worth it. The interior is gorgeous in all gold and if you loop around to the back where there is a bell exhibit and go further down the hall there are a couple additional exhibit rooms that describe the history of the Jesuits and specifically their work in Ecuador.
