The coolest zoo I have ever been to. The way they incorporate the nature and the hillside is spectacular.

I liked Bioparqué Amaru, and I even met the guy who runs it. He’s a nice guy, and runs a nice establishment. I also saw some cool animals that I had never seen before, like the margay, culpeo, and endangered frogs. However, the trails are very steep, and the altitude can be problematic for people who aren’t used to it. Plus, it rains here pretty often, and the trails can become muddy. Other than that, it is a nice zoo. Just make sure you bring hiking boots, a rain coat, and a bottle of water if you feel dizzy or tired.

Nice zoo located on the side of the mountain, in a natural forested area. Very cool. Lots of animals, many of them rescued. Try the parrots cage, some will fly to you or sing with you!

A conservationists nightmare! Dead animals and skeletons all over the place. A 2km home through mountain trails. The price was steep.. you’d think they’d feed the animals more. If you are over 30 you may need medical assistance as you may have a stroke from the hike oh yeah, don’t forget that you have to pay $2 for parking after the fact of admittance.

It's a beautiful zoo with a great view of Cuenca, sadly i went with an elderly person and my 5 years old child and it was not easy to access. It is a place for hiking and you must be aware that the rain can come any momentas happened to me. I was stucked there for 2 hours until I decided to go down no matter the mud it was challenging as I was worried for my child to fall (btw..she thought it was super fun!). Besides, as soon as the rain started there was not one member of the staff around to show the right way to exit.

This is a fantastic zoo. The setting is on the side of a mountain in the middle of a forest. Not the greatest number of animals we have seen at a zoo. However they have the best enclosures. The view of Cuenca alone is worth the visit. Be prepared to spend at least two hours here. You should know that there is a good bit of hiking and elevation changes. If it has rained recently you will be hiking through mud as the majority of the trail is dirt. NE aware that there is no chance of making the trail with a stroller, wheelchair, crutches, etc. I highly recommend visiting just be prepared for a strenuous hike. Which is a good thing as if you are like me you have been eating too many large, heavy meals.

Very cool place. Note: not for the infirm as trail is dirt track, no strollers, etc. Nice variety of animals, no crowds, great views.

Be ready to hike, but it is worth the effort. All animals looked healthy and happy, but the peacock is a bit over-protective of his space.
