The place overall was ok. It was packed and since we didn’t have a reservation they just basically threw us all the way in the back near the street on an uncomfortable stool and table (which is our fault). The food overall was pretty good, though I had angus beef tacos and portions were small but very tasty. Drinks were pretty good as well so no complaints. Service was reasonable for such a busy place. Place was loud with music though.

However my biggest complaint is this mysterious 10% service tax they call it. Normally in DR it’s 16% sales and 10% service. However the bill came and suggested 5-10-15% tip. I asked if it was already included he said no. I asked what the other 10% was and he said a “kitchen tax”, which of course I never heard of. I told him and he said it wasn’t the tip. So basically ended up paying 16% sales tax 10% “kitchen tax” (which more than likely is normal 10% tip/service) and then a 10% tip. Don’t get scammed by these people like i did. That’s why I’m taking off two stars, because otherwise it would probably be 5 stars.

Good drinks with different specials each day. Chips were stale or not as crispy as it could be. That’s the only down side. Music is great.

We had the fajitas and it was the best thing we ate all week. Great daily specials too. Do yourself a favor and leave the resort and try some good food!

We went to Wacamole three times in a week, so that speaks to it being a great option where there is plenty of competition. It's Mexican, so not technically local food, but it's fresh and well-prepared and feels pretty authentic. The outdoor setting is also nice, and though it's on a busy street, we found it to be quiet enough to converse. If anything, the loud music videos they play are louder than the street noise. But we enjoyed them, and at other times they feature sports and recordings of live performances by Latin musicians. But on our first night, our service was pretty bad -- I ordered fajitas, got the food minus the tortillas and a plate, and didn't get them for another 15-20 minutes. (!) And everyone's food came out at a different time, though we experienced this elsewhere, too, so maybe it's just a Dominican thing? At any rate, I'd give them a 5 without these shortcomings, so I still recommend it.

To notch food in it's genre. Fast (!) service and helpful crew. Not expensive. To high music in my taste thou. Cool spartansk design and very open. Not the best comfort on hard tree furniture but they have some pads. The sofa looks more dirty then cool. But the food really is fantastic!!!

Best margarita I've ever had. Loved that they used Tajin (spicy Mexican garnish). Fish tacos were delicious too. Service was great, they were actually really fast compared to some other local restaurants. Loved the ambience too.

Decent food. Very nice tropical outdoors ambiance. Typical Dominican (painfully slow) service. DO NOT REQUEST SEPARATE CHECKS (ours were messed up). Nice place to leisurely spend two-three hours.

Freaking awesome!!! I have been here 2x on this trip so far and i may just comeback everyday for my remaining time in Punta Cana. The serving sizes are a little small but the food being amazing makes up for it (in my opinion). The atmosphere is great & the barista makes the best drinks.

The place is really cheap and the overall experience was good.
I strongly recommend this place if you are looking for Mexican food.

I arrived to a predominantly empty restaurant so I grab a table about 10 ft from a gaggle of service staff. My arrival does nothing to stop their gabbing and sat for several minutes waiting for a menu. Then a couple sat down at a table next to me. They looked local. A server immediately came to their table took there order and left. So I was left to hunt down a server to get a menu. Not impressed. I should I have just left...

Then I order and get my stuff.. I get my food in good time but they messed up my order. It was to be a beef burrito. It wasn't .. it was a fish burrito. I'm allergic to that.

Despite being clearly unhappy .. I had to spit out a mouthful of burrito .. no servers came around so I go to the bar. I wait at the bar. And wait. The gaggle of servers is still gabbing 10 a ft away .. finally one server stops by (not my original server.. another one serving the couple) and helps me out. The original server sat 10 ft away again looking at me busy talking to his fellow servers.

So I get my beef burrito. It's passable but I've had much much better and bigger for the price. After eating, I slowly savour my coke and wait for the bill. Then finish my coke. Then wait. Then I collect all the glasses etc.. and move them neatly into one spot in the table so they know I'm done. Then I wait. Then I take out my method of payment. Then I wait and wait..

Final I get up and make my way to the cash. I wait. I watch my original server gab with others while playing with some gardening shears. He pretends to shear a tourist as he walks by behind his back. How entertaining.

The total bill for a passable burrito that left me hungry and a coke - 500 pesos. You read that right. And you guessed it... A mandatory 10% tip on top of the 18% tax so it's actually a 12% tip for the wonderful service. And during the entire time I was there the gaggle of servers outnumbered the amount of customers. Making sense yet?

Anyway, driving back to my condo I get an uneasy feeling like I'm about to vomit. I rarely get that .. if ever. Luckily I don't and it subsides in a few hours. I have no idea if it was the beef burrito or biting into the fish one.

So .. those are the facts.

So how many stars would you give that experience?

Perhaps the owner/manager would like to respond how many stars they would give?

    Never again.

    Portion sizes are small
    The food is excellent.
Prices are high for the portion size and location of restaurant.
    The service is okay.
The drinks are excellent but small
I was going to give the restaurant a four-star but when we got our bill we paid 2000 pesos for a 1574 peso bill.. the waitress only gave us 200 pesos change.
