American Airlines gave me a taxi voucher so that I could get to the hotel after my flight from Santo Domingo to Miami was cancelled. The Sichala driver who took me to the hotel at night told me that he would pick me up the next morning. However, when I arrived in the lobby he informed me that he would be taking more passengers in the same taxi. Since each passenger on the cancelled fight had their own taxi voucher, it was evident that he would keep the various vouchers and submit them for payment to the airline, while taking all the passengers in one car. I pointed out that I had a large amount of luggage and needed the space, in addition to the fact that he was scamming the airline. While he looked for the car in the garage, another driver approached me and said that the taxi company paid them very little and this was a way for them to make extra money. Another driver said they had too few taxis and were trying to use all the units available. My driver berated me in the car because be said I was not cooperative and that they had been loading several passengers per taxi all morning, confirming that he had taken a voucher from each. He then proceeded to drive recklessly in order to show me his anger, jeopardizing my safety and almost crashing into the back of a van on the road. I will report this to the airline, but I would like to warn passengers that Sichala drivers are unpleasant and are scammers looking to make an extra buck, regardless of the passenger's comfort or safety.
