  Best place for vacation. I like the freedom this airport has. Montains, beaches and rivers, all toguether. Belive in God through JesusChrist and be free. Good advice.

  Me entristece que un paraíso como es el Sur, no pueda ofrecer una infraestructura tan importante y necesaria como es un aeropuerto en funcionamiento. Lamentable además, que exista, que se hayan invertido tantos fondos para no aprovechar su explotación. Las comunicaciónes son un valor inexcusable para el progreso de un país o región y de su pueblo. Pero voy a ser optimista y quiero pensar que los dirigentes o responsables de poderlo hacer viable, están dispuestos a reabrirlo para así poder proporcionar riqueza para la región Sur y compartir su incomparable paisaje y bondades que ofrece, eso beneficiaria a todos.
  Abran el aeropuerto please!!

  El Aeropuerto Internacional María Montéz (AIMM) está ubicado frente a las costas de la península de Barahona. Lleva ese nombre en honor de la famosa actriz de cine dominicana considerada como la reina del technicolor.
  
  Cuenta con una terminal de 2,565 metros cuadrados y una pista de 3,000 metros de largo x 45 metros de ancho, con capacidad para recibir aeronaves de cuerpo ancho.
  
  Es la puerta de entrada a la preciosa zona ecoturística del Suroeste del país, con una variedad de atractivos, entre ellos: Lago Enriquillo, el mayor de las Antillas; los baños térmicos de Las Marías, excelentes playas de surf y montañas espectaculares.

  This airport is literally out of service and it has always been. It was built hastily during a really shady administration back in the (80?) . Very sad that planning was not done and the structure and runway which were \ are still in good shape are being left to rut. I believe the facility was used as a staging airfield during the Haitian Earth quake of 20**. Since Port Au Princes airport was totalled and this one is close to the border. ( Again it has a full size runway ).
  Other than that sadly there are no flights regular or not. Maybe one private excursion plane may request advanced permission to use it since there is no one there but some security.I am saddened it it is the honest truth. Not sure why folks here are giving it 5 stars. It is closedHas always been. Now PUJ
  , AILA, POP, LRM,STI, AILI, AISA..ALL phenomenal airports . PUJ I'm particular is a plane watchers dream. AILA is 15 min from the DN. Barahona..? I wish.. Maybe one dayOne day I hope for Maria's sake.

  El el aéreo Puerto. Mejor preparado de pista. De pista de aterrizajes. De nuestro pais. Se construyó con las visiones de que se utilizará. Para el buen turismo de la zona sur de nuestro pais.
