This airport looks safe, social distancing is observed all the way through. It caught my attention that for arriving passengers the COVID19 test is a must.

Normally when you go on vacation to a new place you get excited at the time that you landed. This was the case, but then the line to do immigration was so long getting out of the immigration room all the way almost to the gate, with only two immigration officials. It took us an hour and a half perhaps more to do immigration that literally it was less than a minute. The airport is very small so it was very easy to navigate our way out. If you take an Uber there are already parked on the second floor so that was very convenient.

I am a frequent traveler through this airport and have been coming to this airport for years. The remodeling has been really nice in the past years. They also have toned down the horrendous checks and long lines of waiting for immigration and bag checking coming in and out of the country. I mean they still do their job but it is a really smooth process now. Now the Duty free prices have dropped tremendously. Really nice!!! Let me tell you if you have any left over Pesos when leaving the country don't exchange them in the exchange booth all you have to do is use it in the duty free stores or the food restaurants and they will give you a better exchange on your dollar. They have a variety of food options ranging from authentic Dominican cuisine to Domino's pizza. Bathrooms are always clean. Be sure to not wonder off to certain parts of the airport because there are areas where the loud speakers don't sound off. When going through the metal detectors be sure to take off shoes and belts because If not you will be checked even longer. The stores open at 7am but some cafe shops open at midnight along with the Dufry shop in front of gate B1 also opens at midnight

Small airport. Only reason there are a lot of people there is because when one person flys they go to the airport with 20 family members and/or friends to say departing goodbye or greet on arrival. But the actual process of greeting tickets, going through customs and getting luggage is usually much much faster than airports in the USA.

Okay for arrival customs can get backed up, if your tourist be prepared to pay us $10.00.

At flight checkin, unless you are elite or flying first class expect low slow moving lines.
Aside from that not bad, dr in general is a tourist trap, have fun and be safe

I hate this airport, always long lines everything runs super slow, they have a bunch of employees just walking around goofing off. the worst part is when you stop one of them to ask for help they give you an attitude.

Indeed one of the worse airport in the world for tourism and the way the staff treats you it’s horrible and out of control. The airlines don’t seem to have a clue of which papers we should fill out because they give you one and when you reach the country you have to fill out other ones. this the 21st century and my country still lacks of organization, customer service, human right common treatment and decency!!! But they are very good at charging and giving you a hard time thus you won’t forget this country..

Inefficient, slow, redundant. Takes forever to travel to and from hotels because of bureaucracy and bad traffic. I have travelled all around the world and I could say this is the worst airport ever.

This is literally the worst airport I've ever been to. Everything is so slow and inefficient. There is no usage of mobile boarding passes possible, I had to wait in line around 20-30 minutes to get to the check-in counter to get my boarding pass printed. After waiting there another 10 minutes for the slow man behind the desk analyzing my passport en detail, I was already late for my flight and had to run to the security gate. While standing there in the next line to wait for another 20 minutes, I noticed that it wasn't my name, that was printed onto the boarding pass. They had no fast track or whatsoever. Long story short: If you're departing from this airport make sure you plan enough time for the whole process before getting on board of the plane. It's all so inefficient and slow that you have to be afraid to catch your flight even though you planned a lot of time to get through the whole process. Arriving there was no better, there was no clear direction on how to get to the car rental, there were 3 different desks from the car rental and the one where a person was available was outside of the building and there were no directions on how to get there. I think we searched for half an hour for that car rental building.-.-

I took a flight from NY to Santo Domingo on Sept 26 and had a hard time going through customs. I had some American ginseng and they took it all. The old lady and the bald guy from customs said it is not allowed, but didn't specify any reason. They did not give me any receipt nor document stating that they took it. Is it how things work in Dominican Republic?
I do not recommend this airport for any visitors.
Punta Cana Airport is way nicer to foreign people.

Terrible! The aiport is ok but the people who work it all have attitudes like no other. The DR's form of TSA have a lot to learn. We travel often and have never dealt with rude demeanor such as here. And trust me, TSA can be pretty rough. The guy we dealt with was on a POWER trip! He gave us problems about the smallest details that shouldn't have been an issue but yet oversaw a bottle of water my husband had in his bag. Really? A bottle of water? The number one item could cause tranport harm if it happened to be "something else" other than water. The number one way to transport "something harmful". But no, he completely overlooked it while he was on his big bad power trip. The soliciting in the airport is also out of control! I mean people approach you to eat, people approach you to get a massage. The Punta Cana airport is not like this. The restrooms are terrible. Clean but broken. At least they have free wifi.

Fast , efficient, clean, well equipped and comfortable. Quick in and out. Only drawback is the lack of direct bust or metro service to the City and nearby areas. You will need a rental or flat fee taxi.

Ridiculous. The inept employees of this airport would not let us board our plane claiming we needed a Schengen transit visa. If it was not needed on the way in why should we need it on the way out? It's the same transit for God's sake! Now I'm stuck in this stupid country because they can't even hire a person with common sense. Someone with common sense wouldn't want to work there!

Not the best experience, but reasonable and far from the worst. Customs officials much nicer than when entering the United States.

The airport is small but nice. Sometimes there aren't enough immigration officers for departures and arrivals, this causes long waiting line.

I had one of the worst expiriences in this airport. First time traveling here. From
The point of arrival, there was no "hello, how are you, welcome." It sadly was "passport, 10 dollars." Ok, excuse me for saying hello and looking like an idiot. Next, I had no idea my uncle's address who I was visiting as he was waiting for me on the other side. I waited a long time before thankfully getting some type of service on my phone and being able to reach him. That long time was horrible. Rude, rude staff. Even had one of the immigration dudes tell me " you travel and don't know where you're going? That's your problem." I was very upset because this was an emergency trip to see an ill family member who used to live in the US and it was my first time in the country. After finally getting that sorted out, after picking up baggage, passport gets checked once again where the lady asked me "did you come to do your body here today?" I was so dumbfounded at the question because I'm a very fit woman. Not only was that unprofessional, but so what to anyone who else that is there for that purpose! Seriously? It's very sad that this was my first time and this is the image that I'm leaving with.
