Absolutely Beautiful! More than what I was expecting. When buying the tickets you are allowed to have a train tour inside the garden, but personally, I think you can enjoy more walking. There’s a butterfly sanctuary that costs 25pesos, even though it’s cheap, doesn’t really worth it. The place is huge and you can’t miss the japanese garden, it’s one of the highlights!!
Great gardens all around. Could be in better shape/maintenance but it is fine anyhow. Best area is the Japanese Garden which is peaceful and beautiful. The place is quite big, they have a little train to take you around but I would say it is better if you can walk it all since you can explore all paths this way and stay as long as you want in a garden area you might like a lot.
Very nice place. I took the mini tour with friends. You can take the bus tour, rent bikes there or sit and enjoy yourself on the lawn. You can call and ask if they have any events coming up. When we got there there was a very nice and interesting recycled materials art fair. We enjoyed it very much. The admissions fee is very inexpensive. Only downside is that it was very hot and I was hoping to flowers. I don't remember the price for the bike rentals.
Although far from the typical tourist areas of Santo Domingo, the Jardín Botánico is a must see in the city. Beautifully landscaped, with well thought-out areas devoted to all parts of the diversity of Dominican flora. The Japanese Garden is the most popular part of the park, and rightfully so - its footpaths, pools, pagodas and plants are combined wonderfully. The Jardín is a great place for a run or a picnic.
Great garden and way to spend a few hours in Santo Domingo. Parking is very easy and admission is only US$5 for people under 60 and free for people above 60. Train tour is included which stops at the Japanese Gardens and also the butterfly garden. There is an additional charge of 25 pesos but is worth it. We went on a really hot day and there is plenty of shade and a good breeze in the gardens.
Lovely Japanese exhibit and great trails to walk. They even have an on-site flower garden where you can purchase FLOWERS and plants for your home. Staff is friendly and it's super clean but.if you don't like to walk make sure you wait for the train. Only bad thing is the best part of the garden the Japanese exhibit has a 15 minute time limit meaning you have to be in and out of it in 15 minutes. However it doesn't seem to be an enforced rule at least not the times I 've been
Awesome place to reserve for family celebrations and photos. My wife and I had my after civil wedding pics there in nov 2001. Great parking lot, entrance, clean installations. Outstanding assistance from both administration and support personnel.
Close at 5:00 pm, don't go after this hour. You'll lose your trip. Very nice place, recommended
One of the most Important parks in town. As always, I advise visitors keep the area clean and protect the flora. It is recommended to visit early mornings because of the fresh air and calm that can be felt there. The Butterflies Gardens is seasonal so not every day you'll see a deluge of butterflies there. The Rose Garden is the same. Be careful, the wettest part coincides with the natural and scientific reservoir so you can fin a huge deal of insects.
The Botanic Garden is stunning and peaceful, with different areas to see. You are allowed to bring your own beverages, and food. The garden has a section available for people with motor disability, so using wheelchairs to see a section of the park is a good option. There are many benches in shaded, scenic spots throughout the garden if you want to sit and rest or read.
This place is good to visit with your family or friends. There are some good exhibitions about the Flora in the country and the microclimates that are here. You can buy native and introduced plants in here. It needs a little of conditioning.
A sanctuary, full of peace. They have activities all year round, a bonsai club, a flower festival, a seed back, an orchid yard, an herbal bank, a Japanese garden, and so much more.
Love the place, i visit a lot with my kid, its good to pack some snacks and be ready to walk a little, you can take the train for the tour and stay for a while for picnic.
Not really a botanical garden. More like a recreational park. There is a little train that takes you around the property
Locals use it for picnics and kids birthday parties a lot.
Beutiful place to relax and walk with kids they will enjoy the journey through the forest. This is cheap place compare to driving a couple of hours out of the city
Very nice garden. I enjoyed the train ride aspect of it a lot since it's usually very warm and humid in the city. The Japanese section was very cool.
Wonderful park fill of plants from all around the world and a special treat is the Japanese garden, which is one of the most beautiful outside of Japan I have seen.
This park is HUGE and very beautiful. You can take the train and receive a tour through the entire park, passing by the Japanese garden, the wide variety of trees and the garden centre with dozens of orchids. It's also a good place to go running and have a family picnic in one of their picnic areas.
Excellent, half day activity within the city of Santo Domingo. Great for persons who love nature. Here is the biggest sample of Dominican plants, trees and flowers outside their natural enviroment. They have permanent exhibits and many activities all year round. Also different walking treks. Great for relax, sports or just hang around.
An oasis of green in this immense urbe. Great walking trails, exhibition areas of flowers, trees, orchids, endemic plants, butterfly garden, a Japanese garden, a Dominican rural trail.etc. Bird watchers can see a good representation of the country's endemic, resident, & migratoy species.
Visited last week 1/2017 and we were surprised as to how beautiful this Botanical Garden is. You have the option of walking, driving or taking the guided train for a fee. We took the guided tour and learned quite a lot about the Garden and the history of different habitats in the island.
