The place was huge. I was hoping that would mean a large variety of stuff to do but I've stayed at way smaller places with a far greater variety of restaurants. It would probably be really good for kids as there was a pretty decent water park area.

Impossible to get a good night sleep. There is noise from 6am to midnight. Every sound your neighbour makes is echoed and amplified in the long ceramic hallways or transmitted through thin walls and ceilings. I can't recommend paying extra to stay in the Esmeralda, as I saw little difference to the other Bahia resorts.

Food in buffet is medium for lunch, poor for breakfast and dinner service ranges from good to great.
Dinner in the el a carts is very good with the exception of the Brazilian which was disaster with staff behaving unprofessional like the boss called in sick. Desserts everywhere are the same, not great and taste store bought.

Staff are poorly trained in helping the tourists and don't even know the way round the resort.
