  Barahona is a lively town the people are in general friendly and helpful, however there's almost no work and the unemployment rate is one of the highest in the country, therefore the criminality rate is also one of the highest. More or less, although not justifiable, a matter of survival. It is not recommendable to go out when it's dark. Be very careful especial guys with smooth talk, offering they're services, also during the day. Sometimes be hard to get rid of them. The weather in Barahona is the best in the country, out almost never rains and the south coast of barahona is one of the most beautiful in the country, many nice beaches and ice cold crystal clear rivers. The crime rate is considerably less in the small village, but caution is still recommended especially in San Rafael

  un buen lugar para pasar el momento con la familia, solo tener un poco de cuidado aunque la ciudad no es tan peligrosa como las demás en el pais es mejor ser cauteloso con nuestras pertenencias
