Heaven on Earth! I had high expectations and Catalonia Royal La Romana far exceeded it. I've never had such amazing food, the rooms & resort is more beautiful than any picture can capture, the beach is clean & clear, the staff was kind & fun, every detail was pure perfection.

Wow. This adult side of this complex is new and service and food simply incredible.
We were checked in, at room. With a requested ice bucket and in room food within 25 min at 11 pm on arrival. Please tell me which hotel listens that well.
Double showers. Grohe. Beds and pillows like a Hyatt. Rooms spacious. People are all very happy and willing to help. English is harder Spanish and Italian is key. This is not a 3 star. It's a 5 star

Very beautiful resort. Flowers everywhere and the beach is very nice. The service is exxelaena! The food however, is not the best, the beef is very tough and there is not a lot to choose from.

This new addition to Catalonia Resort is amazing. It is two steps above the other resorts that adjacent it. From the beginning greeting to the end almost every member of the team was outstanding. There is always a grumpy in the crowd and that was a server who will eventually get weeded out. Cannot say enough about the bartenders, waiters, housekeeping and support crew. Just amazing. The food was fresh and delicious (probably should ensure you have all of the wines on the list at all locations). La Romana has its own restaurants that only guests from who are staying there can use. Then they allow La Romona guests to dine at any of the other restaurants as well (nice touch). The beach was well maintained and my room (a double decker) had its own pool, two showers and plenty of room. The architecture and extra touches throughout are very modern and the staff keeps the place very clean. Nice job Team Royal La Romana!

The best vacation I have had. New facilities with a modern design, every single person of the staff is going to make you feel like family, they're very friendly. If you have the opportunity, join to the foam party at the pool bar, and also the beach party.

Booking at the Royal gives you access to all Catalonia Dominicus' facilities too, including restaurants, buffet, pool, etc.

This was my fitst all expense paid trip and it was pretty good. Unlimited food and liquor was nice. Resort was gorgeous, and weather was spectacular. Food gets to be repetitive but still good. We went for new years, which was very hectic and not well planned. Took 3 hours to get food that night because there were too many guests and not enough employees. Not the employees fault, but chaotic. Rest of the trip went smoothly though, only piece of advice is to maybe pick up a bit of Spanish, the language barrier makes things a little difficult. Otherwise had a great time!

Beach: very clean and beautifully decorated; crystal clear water, white sand, no seaweed; with bar at the beach and even service at your lounger; amazing sunsets!!!
Rooms and resort: new, modern, clean, very nicely decorated, great zen ambiance, smell good.
Food: very tasty and absolutely delicious, great variety!
Staff: very nice, friendly, helpful; there are a lot of them; great service overall! :)
Weather: very sunny & hot every day, nice warm evenings; perfect!
    Vacation in paradise!!!

The hotel facilities are run down. Apparently, there is a problem of birds that nest in the facilities’ ceiling (including the restaurant’s ceilings). We had bird poop in our table while we were trying to eat! The waitress just said that the birds “don’t behave well”. The bathroom in the Garden room is ugly, dirty and uncomfortable. There is poor water pressure and barely any space in the shower. I showered with my beach flip flops on because the shower looked dirty. There was no door to separate the bathroom from the rest of the room, and if someone else opens the room’s door towards the hallway, whoever passes by can see you showering. Not well planned! The pool area and beach area are nice, but not as clean and majestic as in the publicity photos. Definitely not coming back.

Amazing resort, friendly staff, great food and drinks! Ugrade to the adults only or Privileged section if you can, which gives you access to some really cool VIP area restaurants

I have nothing but good things to say about this resort. It is incredibly clean and well run. The staff works very hard in every aspect to make their customers happy. The staff is friendly and ready to help at anytime.

This resort is quieter and adult only. There are some activities like exercise classes and live music every other night.

Very nice staff, great food and drinks, comfortable rooms I really enjoyed my time here I told them it was my birthday and they sent me a bottle of champagne to my room One tip, a travel candle really helps with the humid smell/mugginess

Not good at all. First of all when you book on Southwest Hotels they do not tell you that there are two types of reservations. The privileged one and then the one that we got, I will call it the horrible one. We arrived and staff at the reception were rude. Very rude. It is like you are begging for service. There they tell you that you can upgrade for $34 dollars per person per night. We said no, we thought that being an all inclusive there was no need to upgrade. Big mistake. Wi-Fi????? What a joke. If you want some Wi-Fi you need to stand right next to the antennas outside of the room, if not, forget about the Wi-Fi. Room?? A/C is horrible, bathrooms need a lot of updating and they do not have a card. They just give you a key. So in our case, the three of us needed to coordinate to see who had the key and you better not lose it, they charge a lot for it. Please update the rooms and start using access cards like in a regular hotel. Food is not that good, the three of us got sick and we were not the only ones. My son went to the "doctor" to get some medicine and the "doctor" did not even take his temperature, he wanted payment. There are some stands and they try to sell you EVERYTHING, from alcohol to little souvenirs. Pressure everywhere to buy stuff. Tours??? Please do not book any tour with them, they are horrible, they take your money and they take you to places packed with people and with not very god intentions. I will never go back to that joint, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

It wss a week in paradise. Everything about this resort was amazing. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. It is a small resort but size means nothing. All the restaurants dare delicious food. The beach is always clean. If you are a travel club member you get some additional percs. Would totally do it again

Checked in at hotel around 6pm and was asked if we wanted to purchase an upgrade on our room to a $25 or $35 a night per person. We did not purchase an upgrade. We went to our room #4220 and bell boy stepped inside to adjust air conditioner so it would get cool. After going to eat we came back to room and it was still not cool. I called front desk and they sent someone down and they checked the unit and said to call back in an hour if it still wasn't cool. Over an hour went by and the temperature went down by one degree. I tried calling the desk back three times but got no answer so I walked down to the front desk. They sent someone else down and still nothing. They told me the a/c was standard to all the other rooms. Finally they said they would give me another room the next day at 3pm but that meant being hot all night. I did not give up so they finally gave us another room and the a/c was really cold. I gave one star because I should not have to go through this after traveling all day to another country on vacation. They knew it wasn't working and I think the whole reason we went through this is because they wanted us to give in and pay for an upgrade. Beach and property was very pretty and well maintained.
