Must Read!!! BEWARE!!! Worst Experience Ever!!! I rather walk than ever rent here again! number 1 Scammers In Santiago Dominican Republic. The owner and his Wife they ruined my vacation and came to find out many others. I rented a Range Rover and withing the first hour the tire popped the next day the truck wouldnt start, so they changed it for another Range the next Range they gave me he said was his best, the next day the radio and a/c stopped working witch he later charged me so on the 3rd exchange I gave him a full tank of gas $3,850 pesos worth since I had filled up the night before and on the exchange he showed me a full tank but from Santiago to Sosua Beach 30 min. drive the tank was empty so I added $1,000 pesos and got back with gas for 2 more trips and the doors wouldnt lock, so as I explained this to him he got offensive and said "What u trying to say that I tampered with the gas tank" I said no u said that then he pushed me and as I tried to defend myself he and about 6 other employees attacked me knocking me to the ground while he went to grab his gun. all that for 1 person as I had to have Police escort me out of the premisses. Then when I went back for my passport he charged me the problems from all 3 jeeps and 20% saying that I backed out of the contract.

NO..NO..NO!!!! Renten Vehiculos a abril rent a car..les rente una jeepeta por una semana y solo pude usarla por 4 dias porque se andaba apagando el aire estaba malo una puerta no abria..y segun iban a cambiarla y nunca llegaron..jamas vuelvo a rentar en este lugar. E rentado en muchos lados y nunca avia visto vehiculos de años avansados en tan mal condiciones.

Worst car rental experience ever! I am well traveled and have rented cars in many places but non like these scam artists. sThese guys are the biggest thieves you will ever come across, let me explain:
Picked up the car and it was completely empty of gas, the dashboard looked like a Christmas tree all the lights were on i.e. tire pressure, fuel light, check engine Needless to say we were not very confident the car would survive our one week stay. Some how some way the car made it through the week and we decided to keep the vehicle one extra day; HUGE MISTAKE!
The "employee/owner" of Abril Car rental interrogated us as to the time of our flight when we notified him of our intentions to return the car the next day, no big deal. Upon returning the car the "employee/owner" told me I crashed the car which was a surprise to me because I feel like I would have known if I got into a car accident. Turns out the car had a scuffed bumper which was there when I picked up the car however they neglected to check that off on the inspection paper. Now back to the "car crash" almost immediately the "employee/owner" knew that the damage would cost $80 to repair. I don't know how things work in DR but I know that in the USA we take cars to body shops in order to arrive at a accurate price.
The "employee/owner" made good use of the information he had available, knowing that we would miss our flight if we stuck around any longer he insisted we pay when we refused he threatened to have us arrested and tried to keep my luggage as ransom. Luckily I was bigger that the guy and literally wrestled my luggage from him.
Moral of the story stay as far away from Abril Car Rental as possible, there are MANY options available.response / report this review
