I was not aware of this gem before visiting Skagen. The paintings, from the Skagen School are wonderful, naturalistic depictions of Skagen life in Victorian times. Displayed in the traditional manner with good light.

The art in this museum is fantastic, beautiful paintings of the local area and a lot more. Our family visit was ruined by one intendent who kept following us around on the verge of harassment. After spending time in the children's drawing area, he finally insinuated that we had stolen the pencil sharpener, clearly visible on the windowsill. After that I had enough and decided to leave, after just 20 minutes. An awful shame that one person ruined this for us, hopefully you will not have the same experience.

I was told by many to visit this museum, and I finally did it this summer: I managed to see most of it, and I must say the paintings were really incredible! I really hope to go back there soon. It really deserves a visit!
