We went here for dinner, food was ok but de waiter came two times to say that there was no buffet for children and no salmon (the only fish on the menu and just what we ordered). Ideal place for kids to have fun, there is a large playground inside and outside and bowling for free.

How does a bottle of tap water end up with a 1 star review? Well let me tell you.
I underestimated the amount of water I would need on my 115 km bicycle ride through the Danish countryside in the middle of summer. Remembering family holidays spent during winter holidays at Ho Ferie Center, I thought I will make a much needed pit stop and tank up with water.
I entered the familiar dark, dimly lit lobby (always wondered why it has to be so dark ) that was void of any people, except for a table with black- clothed men eating a mountain of food that smelled good.

I made a beeline for the bar and stood there like an idiot (in Lycra) for what felt like ages. Finally a bear of a man got up from the table I mentioned before and started heading over to the bar at a pace that could only be described as deliberately slow.

There was a reason for this pace. The bear was an employee of Ho Ferie Center, and he and the rest of his clan at the table was on a break. My badly timed bike ride and lack of hydration has interrupted the highlight of his day no doubt, and he was going to make sure I know that. He mumbled something to me with the enthusiasm of a teenager finding out he is staying home and mowing the lawn, instead of going to town with his mates. This was not going to end well for me I sensed.

I decided a change of tactic was required. My original plan was to ask if I may use the bathroom and fill my bottle with some tap water there. Sensing the stares from the bear table I asked for a glass of Coke instead and then dropped my bombshell.

"Could I please ask for a little tap water for my water bottle as well, it is hot today and I did not bring enough for my ride back to Esbjerg" (Note to reader: The word "please" does not exist in the Danish language, true, look it up)

"NO" he grumbled. "You have to buy a bottle of water"

"Really?" , I am buying Coke already, it is just tap water, 500 ml at the most"

"NO!" he again mumbled. We were clearly not getting anywhere

I left giving air to thoughts for the whole empty lobby to hear. "Jeesz what ever happened to generosity and hospitality in these parts.oh yes I forgot.we do not have any."

Now I fully understand that he is under no obligation to give me tap water (remember I am buying a Coke as well), and getting up during a break to help a customer can be irritating, but this attitude is what is so often the trademark of bad service, and when you read some of the reviews here, also unfortunately the trademark of Ho Ferie Center.

Good service is going the extra mile, not half a mile at a snails pace. And yes, sometimes a bottle of tap water is the difference between a good review and a bad one.

    Well-maintained facilities and great service.

They serve great food with focus on vegetables/salad/fish and a few meat dishes (buffet).

It is a great place for children & adults to enjoy their stay even when staying around the vicinity. Near to the town where most shops are.

Transportation wise, it is advisable to bring a car to go around the nearby towns. Otherwise, take the bus and check the travel plan.
