Beautiful castle, enjoyable audio tour, easily reached by train from Copenhagen. Do visit if you have at least half a day to spare.
This castle is marvellous. There are 3 floors of artifacts and Danish history which extraordinary. Quite possibly one of the best historical locations in Denmark.
Frederiksborg Slot is an impressive castle with walled fortications including a drawbridge over the requisite moat, courtyard with a masculine fountain of strength in the center, tall spires, intimate chapel, large garden with a flowing canal down the center and of course, a Grand Ballroom. This castle fits all of the pre-requisites for your Hollywood reinforced image of what a castle should be.
This would really be the highlight of my trip to Copenhagen. You can easily take up to half a day here. The castle itself is magnificent especially the interior. You can also take a nice stroll around the lake next to the castle. Highly recommended.
If you want to get stunning pictures, this is the right place. The Castle is very big, and the garden is simply amazing. Good to go with kids and spend an afternoon.
Impressive castle with a more impressive chapel. There were some funky art at the end of the tour but overall a great place to visit
Stately castle, royal look and feel, easy drive from Copenhagen. We focused on the lovely gardens, which were French type near the castle and English landscape gardens further out. Children can run around freely in the latter. Would be great for a picnic. We parked at the far end of the gardens (furthest from the castle), and on our way to the castle had lunch in the garden cafe. Quality of the buffet was OK but not great; outdoor seating was its strong point.
This place was absolutely gorgeous!
We took the train from Copenhagen and spent 5 hours exploring this castle on our last day in Denmark. We could have spent the whole day here easily. The castle itself was stunning. Back in the day this would have been a sight to see in all its glory.
Fantastic. Versailles without the crowds. Perfect audioguide that guides you chonological throught the castle and history of Denmark. Very well maintained.
Impressive fairytale castle, with its gardens and lake! The first floor also has temporary exhibits, we could see beautiful portraits there.
You should visit once. A beautiful castle with a nice park behind it. There is a lot to see inside. The free audio guide is sometimes sending you strange routes. Take more time to enjoy the castle it's really worth your time.
Public transportation gets you there easily and it's included in CPH Card and otherwise affordable.
it is a lovely place in the summer good surroundings. nature to enjoy. and you can take a trip inside the castle too.
Impressive castle with a very rich museum inside. I specially loved the gardens and the views to the castle from there. If you can, take the boat for a nice trip around the lake.
