I love there barbecued chicken. And yellow rice with extra raisins.
This was a little gem that the guide books didn't tell us about. We tried to go to Chez Youssef which all the guide books talk about it was a little too ram shackle for me 🙈 Al-Basha in contrast was clean, well lit, had air con AND we were treated incredibly well. The owner (?) spoke good English and I explained we wanted a traditional Yemen meal, he took us to a fridge and showed us the fish we could have.. we haggled on the price before the fish was cooked and sat down and waited. We were served with a huge piece of Yemen style flat bread and a dip and then our fish came out. It was incredible. We ate the fish using the bread like the locals (they did give us cutlery without us asking which was so kind and recognised a cultural difference). It was a lovely atmosphere, we were well looked after and the food was epic. I can't recommend enough. Our bill came to 3900 DjF with a large bottle of water, a soft drink each and then bread and fish. Considering our bill the night before had been 17000 DjF this was incredible value Djibouti is very expensive so if you're on a budget I would strongly suggest this as a good option!
Really delicious meat and grilled dishes.
