Very nice zoo with a free boat cruise in the african section. Lots to see. Some areas need a little maintenance, but overall experience was very impressive
I'm sorry but I just can't give a zoo a good rating anymore. I love that the genetic defect dwarf polarbear gets a home and survives but everything else is just a show with too little space.
I can agree to helping save endangered species and education but I didn't really get that feeling from this zoo.
6 euro for parking,21.5 euro for entrance, extremely expensive food and drinks. A huge place with lot of forests and trees but with not so many animals. We pay to see closer a lot of animals and not the trees. Very expensive with less animals than you can expect.Dirty place with dirty animal's cages. Also,in the begining they took us some photos and they told us that it was for free but at the end they asked from us 15 euro!!!! I have been at better zoo in that country with the triple animals and the half of ticket's price.
A great family day out. So many viewing points. An enormous variety of animals out and inside for viewing pleasure. Places to buy/eat food are positioned around the whole zoo. The toilet facilities are clean and well kept, changing rooms included. Staff are very accommodating. The effort given to upkeep the zoo is amazing. The animals look healthy and well kept. Parking is 6€ for the whole day (thumbs up).
One of the best zoos I have ever been to. The whole park is divided into three different geographic areas with different animal inhabitants. The fences are in many cases almost invisible and you can get really close to the animals. Many places to eat but as well picnic places to bring your own. Definiitly recommend.
Great! It's a perfect place for a one day excursions with kids
Lovely zoo, beautifully designed enclosures, lots of small but engaging climbing/ play areas to keep the children happy.
You'd never believe a small city like Gelsenkirchen has a Zoo like this. It's large, beautiful, animals livein spacious and Interesting environments. I was impressed. Tickets are pricey but are still a bargain for what's offered.
Very nice made - animals have a lot of space and they tried to cater their special needs. Only the ice bears were not so healthy looking. Great for kids with a lot of play areas. But you need good weather because most areas are outside.
A very fine zoo, after years of work. I still know the zoo from the time it was called "Ruhr Zoo." Today, it has become a very animal friendly zoo with large enclosures and way more space to move around for many of the animals than other zoos I've visited. Great for a family trip or to go on a getaway from the everyday.
