Poor value for money. World Heritage Site and only German spoken. Guide had bag of A4 pictures he held up and spoke about in German. Taken to three viewing spots on way down to pit but never actually taken down. Museum is a wired collection of rooms but does have English sub titles for exhibits.
The museum is very impressive. The tour is interesting but not impressive.
A big boring hole in the ground. The guide was very nice though.
Paradise for paleontologist and others interested in the former bituminous mine.
Couldn't enter the grounds. Needs a lot of time to enjoy and experience the place fully. I liked the reception area.
Visiting this ancient volcano will give you a completely different insight about this area. Make sure you ask for the fountain at the source and be careful with the breeding geese.
Disappointing. I went there as I was curious about the history that this place provides so close in the middle of Germany. Had to find out that the exhibition lacks any form of educational concept and fails to provide a coherent guidance into the topics for a person not from the field. Felt like you had to be geologist yourself to be able to understand the exhibits and put them in context to each other and the area. It looks great, but the content is just not there. The movie and the drilling hole experience sound great, but basically you walk away away thinking "what was this now?".
