This is a very nice museum with a great collection and temporal exibitions like the Matisse Bonnard which I visited.

I've been here repeatedly and loved every display I've seen so far!!! Fortunately I'm retired so I've been able to see most of the displays without the crowds, but the redhead and I have waited until the last weekend to see some of the more memorable visits do yourself a favor and go when it's not busy!!!

The Städel is running a grand Matisse/Bonnard Exhibition at the moment. The standing exhibits run from Classic to Impressionist and Expressionist and a lot in between. The restaurant is upscale, the cafe cozy and the bookstore/souvenir shop has something for everyone including the youngest!

The special exhibit downstairs (prints and lithographs) was better than 3 stars, but the upstairs was very warm and not especially inspiring. Overall a pleasant visit but if you only have a few days in Frankfurt this one won't make the cut.

I enjoyed a lovely collection of art, though I spent little time on the bottom floor with the "modern art" which included a plain black canvas. The top two floors possessed a rich collection of more elegant and complex works I found very nice

The section with abstract stuff like Picasso was really nice. But I think they accidentally added some blurry photos to one of the exhibits, or maybe just some random pictures off of someone's camera phone. Otherwise really nice.

The exhibitions include paintings/sculptures from 1500's to contemporary. The contemporary floor is specially interesting.
The museum is quite big compared to other museums I visited in Germany. There is a phone app you can download which contains a guide for selected pieces.
The whole museum can take up to 2-3 hours to cover.

An incredible collection of art from the 1600's to today. Staff were also very helpful, and as a backpacker it was great to be able to store my bag for free while I was there. The cafe is also quite good.
