I have never had words service in my life. Dude literally rolled his eyes as We ordered. Would not give this guy a penny of my money. We literally walked out of the restaurant when little Napoleon rolled his eyes at our kids order. Do not go here. I repeat do not go to this place.

I only hope the waiter is the owner of this place will die quickly. Not sure if I've ever rooted for a business to die as much as this one.

I once did a piece on them for local TV back in the '90ies. Having studied Japanese at university, I knew the place from it's very beginnings. I ended up there last Saturday, and I was a little taken back. The once highly charming flair had all gone. The traditional door curtain: gone. All those charming pictures with hand written Japanese/Romanized names of a HUGE variaty of great traditional Japanese everyday plates: gone. The staff though was very polite, very quick as usual, but the menu was the second big sigh I took. Well, economically it made perfect sense, they picked what people would have ordered the most and limited the choice down to that. However to the price of the authenticity the place once had, sadly the only reason back then to pay the heavy prices, Shoya had always had. The food was good but pretty standardized, and - sadly - a little more "McDonald-dised", meaning: while the food was absolutely flawlessly prepared and tasted great as ever, it looked like a perfect copy of what I saw another customer served when I entered the place. It looked too perfect, even to high Japanese standards. It lacked the traditional Japanese love for hand made things with all their (human) imperfections. So, although I can still recommend Shoya, I can only give 3 stars now. Shoya has once be awesome, now it's only slightly above average taken the experience, the choice and the food.

fair food, but way overpriced even for a central location. pretty much no service. Oh, and they didn't have chili sesame oil for the ramen! what a bummer

The ramen here is much worse than it is in Japan, even in other Asian countries. Its flavor is way too light and plain! Do not order ramen even it's for freeplz! But you can try other food cuz we did not order them.

Good Japanese Ramen noodles place. Good and fast services. I would recommend their in house pork char Sui noodles. Just slight pricey. Average around 15-20 per person.
