Nice place for art lovers. Some of the people that work in this place can be rude and don’t mind having a row with their workmates in front of visitors, others are friendly and chatty. The collection for designs are interesting. The section for National Socialist artists was boring and poor with work of unknown artists. Hitler would have approved.

This is one of the best museums & galleries in Munich, and well worth a visit for a few hours. The design collection is displayed in a really creative way, with items suspended on the walls, and a beautiful collection of furniture from all the key schools of the 20th century. The building is fascinating, and is a work of art in itself. Visit on Sundays and entrance fee is only 1 euro.

Very nice museum! Great permanent as well as changing exhibitions. A nice little, though mostly overcrowded, café as well as a kids corner round of the visit. The latter offers creative workshops and tours for kids. Sundays you can usually get in for only one euro. Certainly worth a visit!

Nice exhibition. 4 floors of modern art from multiple artists and some very famous pieces as well. The bottom floor has a great exhibition of industrial design. The entrance was 10e each so definitely worth to check this out.

Beautiful building. The top floor had this amazing pottery display in the rotunda when we were there in Aug 2017. If you’re a Bauhaus fan, there are a lot of cool modern pieces to check out. Even a few Warhol videos. We loved the room with several living rooms set up & integrated films & lights. There’s also a rotating motorized retro furniture display. So cool. You’ll want 2+ hours at least. Go early because they will kick you out 15 min before closing on the dot. Oh and CASH only- be prepared.

Good art gallery and building design great. Good cafe in the interior on the ground floor too. I wasn't greatly impressed with the way the art was displayed, for example, top floor current display too empty. Popular gallery.

Number one museum in Munich. Also every Friday they have this Kunstwerkraum which is some kinda art workshop thing, super worth visiting and joining the making. Get your hands dirty and make some art! And it's free! So must visit when you are in town, especially those with kids! Super fun!

Our favorite museum in Munich! Amazing space with some choice collections and rotating exhibits. If you have kids, don't miss the drop-off art studio on the first Sunday of each month from 11am-4pm. It's an amazing way to bring the exhibits to life while parents roam freely through the museum for only 1 Euro. Also make sure to check out the Picasso room where you can literally see his transformation as an artist as the years passed.

Tip: No bags at all are allowed in the museum so go to the basement level to check coats and find a locker for your bags. Also, there's a cafe in the annex opposite the main entrance if you want a coffee or snack.

Definitely go on a Sunday - entry for €1. It was good value at that price but I think I'd have been a little disappointed if I paid full price. The best parts in my opinion were the design collection, a special architecture exhibition, and a couple of other individual works. It doesn't try to be a comprehensive exhibition of modern movements, but does have some themes within the displayed works. If you want to know what you are seeing you'll need to pay for the audioguide, as most works have little or no explanatory text.
