I'd better stay in Dresden for a week to thoroughly check all the rooms of the gallery. It's definitely worth of visit.

Did you know about "the madonna sistine by Raffaello" and her famous angels, you can find it here. It's a beautiful place, in the middle of the city centre and easy access to everything. Ticket 10 euros.

Needless to say: the collection would be outstanding. However, unfortunately 90% of the paintings are in the frame behind highly reflecting glass and therefore lose all their natural appeal. Of those rare paintings which are not, one can also not get close enough to see the brushwork of the artist without being surrounded by guards for having looked too closely and having moved the nose over a virtual line. Like it is now, it is useless to visit the exhibition as one cannot enjoy the paintings (Maybe still good enough for the general public, though, to show off with having seen a Rubens or whatever but for whoever is really interested in the paintings would probably get more if he/she looked at the painting in a book). I was totally disappointed as I expected significantly more.

Great collection of paintings of many masters from Italy, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain (Belotto, Santi, van Dyck, Rubens, Rembrandt, Cranach Jr and Sr, Velazquez). Must see for all enthusiasts of art.

One of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen housing a small but studded with famous paintings gallery. Its really tiny so 2 hours is maximum you might need. When I went in January, it was quite empty which was great
