Out of all the zoos I’ve been, this one definitely stands out as of the clear segregation between animals from different areas, but there’s one thing that frustrates me as an English speaking tourist. There are absolutely 0 English throughout the zoo (expect some signs). Even at the ticketing counter I had to ask to get the price (literally no indication as of price in English). Other than this, it’s all around a great zoo but expect less during the winter. I highly recommend if you ever come to visit Cologne. These are some pictures I took!

Really didn't expect much from a zoo I have never heard of but was very impressed with the huge range of animals they had at the zoo, there were a lot of animals that you wouldn't normally expect to see at a zoo like the grizzy bear and sun bears. With the price of €19 you get the whole zoo to explore and the aquarium, insect and reptile house that is near the ticket offices and definitely worth a visit. We spent about 6 hours here and could easily have stayed longer so I really recommend you add this to your places to go in Cologne.

Enjoyable place to spend the day and see the feeding shows. Nice resturant to sit and watch the elephants. Great play areas for kids throughout the zoo.

Always great going here! Price are quite high with around 20€ per visit. An annual card is only around 80€ and worth it.

The layout was good because the flow/route was not complicated hence you will not miss any animals. Also, the areas were well-organized/placed to keep the interest of the kids (and adults even) going. There was a great/big variety of animals and I think it was the first zoo we went to where you can really see them up close - i.e. the gorillas.

Only thing I probably didn't like was there were spots/places where you can't see some of the animals - either they were hiding or they were not there at that time. So I wish there's some way they can make the other animals visible in their designated areas.

The place was clean and you can tell it was well-maintained. The bathroom we went to was also clean and looked new. I think stuff in the souvenir shop are overpriced but I mean that's inevitable in any other souvenir shop.

The aquarium and where other tiny animals (like frogs, snakes) were located outside the zoo. It was actually a separate area. There wasn't a huge selection of sea animals and the place was a bit small/tight so don't expect to see a lot here.

Overall, it was a great way to spend half the day here and my girls loved it! I'm not gonna lie, but me and my husband also enjoyed this place a lot!

I usually don't like zoo, but this one is amazing. They absolutely care about the animals and do a great job to protect some species.

We love the Cologne Zoo. The elephant dom is unique, but the other parts are also very good. There are two playgrounds, one small (for smaller children), and a very big one. The food is the usual fast-german food (pommes, pasta, salad-bar, wurst, pretzel, ). Be aware: in the restaurant u can pay only with cash. A healthier alternate for food would be nice. The weekdays are better for visiting: less people.

I cant much say about this zoo. Its huge and tidy. The elephant reserve is the largest in Europe.

The entrance fee is pretty high (19,50€) but its worth it, esp. if you have small kids.

Wonderful place with a wide range of animals from around the world. Perfect to spend the day with your friends or loved ones. I said a day because the place is huge and you need at least three hours to circle all the way around. The ticket price is a bit steep at 19.50 euros but it is well worth it once you get in and start to get a glimpse of the size of the place. Definitely recommend it.

Great! One of the best zoos I have visited. Many enclosures feel "barrier-free". Indoor rainforest is a neat feature. Don't forget to visit the aquarium!
