Rip off. Drove 3 hours out of the way to see this castle. Spent 20 euros for my wife and I. Only two rooms open to view. Apparently the weekends they have Christmas market they close the castle. No signage to let you know the castle is closed. They just take your money, the staff could care less. The Christmas markets is the same stuff you see at the Christmas market in all the local towns, nothing special. 75% of the market booths were closed anyway! The worst experience of our two week trip. Nobody likes to feel scammed. Hate these money-grubber tourist attractions.

Nice place if you love to visit these amazing castles. Such a great view you can see over the towers, and such and amazing staff.

We had a perfect trip to this castle! Got to the castle and ordered tickets for the English tour right as the bus was about to head up there. We didn't have to wait at all, except outside for the tour to start. It was a wonderful experience. You're required to put on slippers over your shoes, that they provide. You're not allowed to take photos inside the castle, though. The outside of the castle is just as beautiful as the inside. As we left the castle, the bus was just pulling up and we didn't have to wait again. It was truly a perfect experience.

Great visit, take the tour and learn about the history of the castle and the Prussian empire. The castle itself is amazing and many areas are still used by the prince and princess.

Wonderful castle, unfortunately we got there in November, when there are very few tourists. So there was only a German speaking guide to show us the castle. She (Sabina) tried to tell us a bit in English as well. The guide was very good and kind. My compliments to her!

Beautiful! Unlike some of the castles in Europe, this one appears to be somewhat of a hidden gem, at least for tourists. Our German family took us here, and there was a kids birthday going on with live music and a clown, which was fun.
It's well taken care of, has a well-stocked beer garden (with great schnitzel!), and was a great way to spend an afternoon.response / report this review -

By far one of the best castles we visited in Europe. It wasn't as crowded with tourist as some of the more well known castles.

Beautiful 19th century castle of the Bavarian king, complete with fairy tail towers and an even more ancient foundation. It's a long hike up, recommend to come early in the day to avoid a wait and take a shuttle, you can't drive to the top. The cashier only took cash while we were there and there is no cash machine so come prepared.

Absolutely beautiful. Worth the hike up, and believe me it is a hike, especially if it's a beautiful and busy day so if you're not up for the challenge I suggest taking the bus.

It was a magical and incredible place. Hard to believe that castles like this actually exist outside of fairy tales and Disney movies. The history is incredibly enthralling and leaves you wanting to do more research on your own. The staff helped my husband coordinate his marriage proposal to me. They were so cooperative, helpful, sweet, and kind! The proposal couldn't have taken place in a more enchanting and beautiful setting.
