I had Flammkuchen (Speck und Zwiebel) twice in Berlin and theirs was so much better than the second I almost couldn't believe it. Very friendly staff and delicious Kölsch.

We went there on a Friday evening as a group of 3 without a reservation. It was well visited but still felt quite cozy. The staff was friendly and fast. Our orders were taken quite fast too and we had a talk while waiting for the food. Didn't take too long for a Friday evening. The food was pretty good. Solid German food. They have Schnitzel, Currywurst or Blutwurst to just give an example. We choose the cordon Bleu and the schnitzel and enjoyed it. Also they serve Kölsch nonstop. If you have an empty glass, they refill it unless you put the beermat on top of the glass.
Had a wonderful time, even though the vegetables weren't exactly my taste. Nonetheless we'd come again.

It seems this is where the locals go for a hearty traditional German meal and is none the worse for it. There's a great atmosphere and the food is very good. Most of the staff speak fluent English which makes ordering very easy.

This is a good place for tourists to get meals and beer from the Cologne area. The interior looks like a restaurant in Cologne and even though it's just a replica it feels quite authentic. The food is tasty and of course you need to have at least one "Kölsch", the local beer from Cologne. Be aware - in Cologne you will get a new beer automatically until you put the coaster on top of your glass :-)

Possible to reserve for large groups, fast beer service. Slower food service. Good cologne style food.

Good food, good beer. Perfect for big groups or for non German tourists coming to Berlin to visit you.

Best location in Berlin for Rhineland-expats and their activities. (Karneval!) Closes early though, and has more of a hotel lobby atmosphere. Wouldn't go any other day than 11/11 and carnival in February.

My food was good, but the Kolsch beer was excellent! It's not heavy, and it's very refreshing on a hot summer's day. My waiter was also friendly and very attentive, my glass never went empty. Give it a shot, Gaffel is probably the most famous of the Kolsch beers in Koln.
