Really nice place. Good food. A little bit expensive, but the location is unbeatable. The only negative point was to wait 40 min for the second dish.

Definitely 5 stars for the unique location at Lindau harbour, the spectacular interior design and the lovingly restored old warehouse. Combining beautiful old cars with a gastronmic concept was a bold idea which will for sure turn this into a "must-see" place in the region.

Growing up in this small town I can well remember the dilapidated old building spoiling the view of the otherwise so pretty harbour - nobody cared about that place for decades, except for the swallows who built hundreds of nests under the roof. With that memory lingering, it is even more remarkable to see such a wonderful addition emerging, carrying tradition into the present without being backward, the modern touch reflecting positively on its surroundings. Alltogehter the new complex, consisting of warehouse, annex and beergarden elevates the whole harbour.

The restaurant seats many more people than one might think, judging from the outside. When we were there, we were seated in the glass-walled annex, looking out to the lake into the Rhine river valley - what a great place to have dinner! All furniture are high quality pieces, nothing cheap about the whole place. Unfortunately, high price and great design doesn't always mean, great comfortability - this is true for the chairs, which are not very comfy (especially when eating) and personally I find them quite unattractive (but hey, what do I know about design?).

I have mixed feelings about the lighting concept. While it is quite straight forward in the main seating area (bright, spotlights on cars), it is different in the annex. One side is lighted by LED-spotlights which, when seated right underneath, create a funny profile of that persons head (the less hair, the funnier :-)). The problem is the other side of the annex - for some reason the light comes from a maze of LED bars, radiating a cold purple shine. The light reminded me of those neon lights often used in old GDR appartments in the early 90ies. It also spoils the view of the harbour when it gets dark, since it is reflecting in the huge windows.
Those windows and glass doors itself are an amazing feature, though. It is possible to completely open up the glass box and a let the breeze from the lake come in - a wonderful concept for warm summer nights.

Eventually, we also had dinner :-) The menu is not vast but offered enough choices for each of our group. Even a few great vegan options are available. Otherwise fish and meat from the region are served the traditional style with an added modern touch (reflecting the whole concept of the project). The prices are upscale which is understandable - but I wonder how often the average Lindauer will go there for dinner.
The meals themselves were all perfectly prepared and arranged - the meat was cooked to perfection, mushrooms not mushy :-), all well seasoned and tasty.
The mushroom soup I had as a starter was delicious, the dessert - a variation of chocolate mousses and cake - was nothing to write home about. Everything considered, the food was well worth the price with exception of the dessert.

The major disappointment was the bar. It does look really spectatular with its gold-layered walls and the selection of spirits is probably the best on the island. What a waste! Why in God's name did you place the bar right at the entrance with absolutely no room to put any stools or chairs? No way to enjoy some drinks at the bar before or after dinner. Here you've lost the 5th star.
