Very neat rooms and a delicious and expansive morning breakfast. Enjoyed the dinner and music at the restaurant as well.
excellent food and service, good value
I ate here after an all-day hike up on the mountain. Dinner was tasty-jagerschnitzel with wild mushroom cream sauce and spaetzle. It hit me in the happy place. Granted, I was starved and exhausted, but it worked.
The rooms are very week appointed for the price, the location is very central and the breakfast included a large selection of fresh ingredients (even fresh pawpaw in the frit salad! )
But what really impressed me was the staff's willingness to go the extra mile. When I lost my rucksack in town, the reception called lost property, the spa association, the police and all the businesses I had visited. When one of them wouldn't answer, she tracked down his personal mobile number via her friends on Facebook, eventually leading to the recovery of my bags. An extraordinary effort to keep a guest happy, and all on her birthday!
Traditional Bavarian fare.
I always try to spend 3 days in November at the Alpenrose in Mittenwald before I return the the U.S. It is my home away from home, my room is warm, the people are helpful and everyone seems to be in the restaurant in the evening. I travel alone and I never feel lonely at the Alpenrose. And, of course, Mittenwald is the most beautiful village but lots of little shopsbut never touristy like Garmisch.
I returned this December 2016 and I am always treated like royalty. This time I was able to attend the Christmas Market in Mittenwald. This is absolutely this best Christmas Market as all the goods are local made and the prices are unbelievably moderate. I only wish that I had a bigger suitcase!
Food was great, though my wife mis-ordered due to insufficient German skills and ended up with liver, which she doesn't like. But her soup and dessert were very good, as was my entre. The interior is really nice. Good, traditional vibe.
Even in the off-season, Alpenrose was filled with energy and fun. Our stay was short so we didn't have a chance to visit the pub or restaurant, but it was clearly the most popular place in town. Room was cozy and authentic. People and service were great. Breakfast was excellent.
First time in MIttenwald. The Alpenrose turned out to be a good choice. People were friendly. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean. The hotel has both an indoor and outdoor restaurant with live traditional music. It's located in the center of town and is within walking distance to the train station and the cable cars. There are also two bicycle shops we checked out as well as a very nice bike path along the river. Parking might be a challenge but we were lucky and found a spot right behind the hotel.
